Craig’s SiriusXM Radio Show Ends
Craig Ferguson abruptly ended his SiriuXM radio show last week, announcing on the air that Friday’s show would be the last. Although it was clear that Craig would need to at least take a break from the radio show this summer to allow for filming of Kathie Lee Gifford‘s feature Love Me To Death, which is scheduled to begin shooting in Scotland in June, and that he would need to take time off in the fall to spend time on a new stand up comedy tour, the move nonetheless came as a surprise. Ferguson still had nearly another year to go on his contract with the satellite radio network and guests had already been booked well into June which are still visible on the show’s website, so it must have contained a provision for him to depart early if certain projects were green-lighted. As of the weekend, the SiriusXM app had already been wiped clean of past full episodes of the show. What remains are a handful of interview segments, and some interviews Craig did on other shows on the network.
The obvious question then becomes, “What’s next?” In the immediate future, Craig will be heading to Scotland. The shooting schedule for the film is expected to be about six weeks from June into early July. Kathie Lee has said they hope to have it ready for release by Christmas. Meanwhile, Craig is in the early stages of announcing a stand up comedy tour for the fall. He is tentatively scheduled to appear at the Comedy Works in Denver in September to work up his new set, and so far has two dates lined up later in the month in California. We’ll continue to update our Live Comedy Tour page as new dates are added. He also has two books in the works. The first is a follow-up memoir to American On Purpose, which winds up around the beginning of his time at The Late Late Show. The new book will pick up from there but will also include other stories. Craig says he has written the book in short chapters that resemble some of his monologues from the show. No release date has been announced but it may be on the horizon later this year. Also ahead is the long-awaited sequel to his novel Between The Bridge And The River. The new work of fiction, called Sphinx of the Mississippi, promises new adventures and some surprises. Craig indicated in a tweet that it could be coming out sometime in 2019.
