New Doctor NamedThe BBC announced Sunday that Craig Ferguson‘s longtime friend Peter Capaldi will be named as the twelfth doctor in the long-running series Doctor Who. He will replace Matt Smith, who will end his run in the iconic role at the end of the year. The BBC posted a full report. Entertainment Weekly reported on the announcement and Capaldi’s Whovian credentials. The series has been on television for many of the past 50 years, with different actors portraying the time-traveling doctor. The character periodically regenerates, giving the show’s writers a way to explain the doctor’s different faces and personalities.
Upon hearing the news, Craig tweeted:
Great news that Peter Capaldi is the new Doctor. A spectacular talent and a beautiful man. #DoctorWho
Craig also tweeted our a reminder on Sunday evening:
Shark Week. Live at 11 tonight on @Discovery. Totally naked sharks who lust for flesh & me wearing shorty shorts. #SharkAfterDark
Play of the Day
Craig’s joke about Senator John McCain voting for oatmeal made it into GovExec.com‘s “Play of the Day” segment, which highlights comedians poking fun at government and politics.
LLS Proposal Leads to WeddingYou may remember last December when Craig allowed a young man named Jake to propose to his girlfriend Britney in the opening segment of the Late Late Show. Twitter user @Ariahjunee recently sent a photo montage to Craig, showing the happy couple on their wedding day. Thanks to the RSA’s @bgrhubarb for spotting the tweet! In case you missed it, here is the clip of the proposal:
