And Then There Were Twelve
News broke Saturday out of the UK in the Telegraph and other outlets that actor Matt Smith will end his run in the British science fiction show Doctor Who at the end of 2013. Smith has portrayed doctor for the past four years. There’s no immediate word on a successor, but the audition line will be long for the successful show that has been delighting fans with eleven different actors in the title role in the past fifty years. Longtime fan Craig Ferguson, keeps a model of a TARDIS on his desk and used a full-sized version to transport himself to Scotland for a week of shows last year.
Craig and Bond Villain Joan
The Los Angeles Times took note of Craig’s opening segment of the Late Late Show on Thursday, in which he played James Bond and featured audience member Joan in the role of a Bond villain.
Josh on Stage Josh Robert Thompson recent preformed live in Los Angeles. Here is a look at what he does when the robot stays in the studio:

Between the Bridge Audiobook Craig Ferguson‘s successful novel Between the Bridge and the River was originally released in hardcover and later in paperback, but was not made available as an audiobook. Soon, we could have the chance to hear the author himself reading his debut tome. Craig tweeted:
A few years ago I wrote a novel called “Between the Bridge & the River.” Should I record it as an audiobook? #thinkingaboutit
One of the first to reply on Twitter was author Jackie Collins:
We’ll keep you posted as well. Want to hear a sample? The RSA’s @bgrhubarb reminded us an appearance Craig made on National Public Radio’s Fresh Air when the book was first released.
Meanwhile, Craig tweeted a photo from a recent fundraiser where he and comedian Bob Saget appeared in Los Angeles:
Cracker Jack!
Earlier this week, Craig had some fun with the audience by having them repeat “cracker jack” every time he said it. He was remembering the audience of a long-running British children’s television show, the introduction to which might be familiar to him:

Patches and Sid
After her appearance on Tuesday’s show in which she talked about being bitten at age three by her aunt’s rabbit, Ellen Page tweeted Craig Ferguson to let him know the offending bunny’s name:
My mom just texted me to let me know the rabbit’s name was Patches. Just FYI @CraigyFerg
Craig responded, wondering about the name:
@EllenPage “Patches” as a first name like Patches O’Toole or a second name like Sebastian Patches or just “Patches” like Cher.
And speaking of offending bunnies, Sid reappeared on Wednesday’s show, complete with glowing blue eyes as LLS Producer Michael Naidus tweeted:
The return of a pair of glowing blue eyes and a foul-mouthed furry creature. #TonightOnFerguson
Canada Digs Craig
The CBC in Canada, which airs George Stroumboulopoulos‘ talk show, was quick to pick up on Strombo’s appearance on the Late Late Show, promoting his new gig on CNN.
Griffin Gets Giddy

Garlin Grandstands
Comedian Jeff Garlin will be on Thursday’s LLS. The last time he was on the show, he popped up in the opening segment for no apparent reason.

Fan Sees LLS Live The RSA’s Marilyn recent had a chance to see the Late Late Show live and in person at CBS Television City in Los Angeles. She sent us her story:
[stextbox id=”custom”]This was an “if/then” trip for me. I live in New Jersey and am visiting family in Sacramento, I asked my daughter to go to LA with me she said if we are going to LA, then we should take my great grandson (age 6) to Disneyland with his parents. So my desire to see Craig at work turned into a very expensive, once-in-a-lifetime family vacation.
Although I started looking for the tickets a month before the date I needed, I was put on a wait list. I did receive the tickets just a week before I flew west.
After a wait in line outside CBS because we were early, we were led to a covered seating area to receive instructions from Chunky B. We had some laughs there, then it was in and up to the studio. The people there were so nice to us and efficient. No cell phones or electronics are allowed, but they checked and held each one until after the show. They even have a portable metal scanner we walked through.
The halls of the building are what would be in any industrial building, but the studio and set are beautiful. I am partially handicapped and there is a nice elevator for those like me. The walk is up two floors (four flights of stairs).
We did receive “free candy†on the way to our seats. When Craig threw the chocolate dollars into the audience, I was lucky to get one, although I didn’t notice it under my seat until we were leaving. That is one candy that will never get eaten, as I will treasure it always.
It was a Thursday so there was a double taping. The shows both went by so fast that I couldn’t believe my watch when it was over. Of course, these are professional people who know their jobs. There was no stopping and doing over. Between shows, Craig was gone just long enough to change ties. Craig was his wonderful funny self and he does stand right in front of the camera for the monologue, just inches from the lens.
Loved it all and wish I could do it again.[/stextbox]
Thanks for sharing your experience, Marilyn! If you attend a taping of the Late Late Show, let us know about your experience. Use our Contact Us form or just send us a link to your blog. We’re always happy to share

Cheeky Stand Up Monkey Craig Ferguson has been known to show up unannounced at a comedy club from time to time. We’re told that during the past week while the Late Late Show was on a break, Craig popped up at Punchlines in San Francisco and the Icehouse in Pasadena. Craig tweeted from San Francisco:
Arthur Kicks Off New Season French comedian/TV host Jacques “Arthur” Essebag launched his new talk show on Friday, with a remake of Dirty Dancing. Check out the story, complete with video in the original French from gentside.com or in the Google translate version.

New Website Design
As you’ve probably noticed, we’ve launched a new website layout. It’s set up to be a responsive design, which should look good on desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones. We’re also adjusting the format of our daily posts, focusing on just one or two important stories each day. We’ll still have archive video some days, including past guest interviews along with the monologues and other funny moments from the show. We’ve also moved the daily guest listings to the sidebar on the right. As always, we appreciate your stories, photos and anything Craig-related that you’d like to contribute and share with the rest of the robot skeleton army. Please let us know what you think of the new layout and thank you as always for being here!
