Josh in a Tie
The RSA’s @BowTies_Bananas opted to use a long necktie rather than a bow tie in a new drawing of Josh Robert Thompson.
Stern Words
In a recent interview on NBC’s Late Night, radio personality Howard Stern mocked host Jimmy Fallon, asking him how he got picked to be the next host of The Tonight Show, saying he barely beats Craig Ferguson in the ratings.
Poking Fun at the Network
Craig isn’t the only late-night television host to take an occasional poke at his network bosses. Here, the one and only Johnny Carson comments on the NBC medical plan.

Josh Guests on PGP When the Pretty Good Podcast celebrated its 900th show, whom did the invite to share the experience? None other than Josh Robert Thompson and some of his favorite characters. You can get a taste of how it went with video sampler part 1, video sampler part 2 or listen to the whole thing.

The RSA’s @iknowjojo created an image featuring Craig, Geoff Peterson and Secretariat standing by Geoff’s podium at the end of the show.

Neville’s Novel
Earlier this week, National Public Radio interviewed author Stewart Neville about his novel The Ghosts of Belfast, which is the basis of the upcoming film Last Man Out, for which Craig Ferguson and LLS writer Ted Mulkerin wrote the screenplay. The website Slate.com also named the book one of its picks for summer reading.
Possible Geoff Book? The RSA’s @HoboRobot couldn’t resist coming up with a book dust jacked based on Geoff shaking his head at Craig’s “geezer” ramblings during the monologue:
Who Writes?
Craig comes up with the perfect response to a poorly-worded tweetmail question.

McGregor and Welsh on the Tweety
Craig hasn’t called his Twitter followers his ‘skeleton army’ for a while, but he did on Tuesday, urging his minions to follow Scottish actor Ewan McGregor:
Sassy & fragrant Caledonian movie star @mcgregor_ewan is on the twatster. To him my skeleton army! To him I say!
McGregor saw Craig’s tweet and replied:
@CraigyFerg back at you Big Man. Here’s tae us….. Etc etc etc. x.
Craig then urged the hollowed out volcano to follow novelist Irvine Welsh, author of the seminal Scottish tome Trainspotting:
Geoff Love Josh Robert Thompson, voice and puppeteer of Geoff Peterson spotted our story last time about the origins of Geoff. We included a video clip from Grant Imahara demonstrating the capabilities of the first version of the robot skeleton sidekick. Josh corrected us on a detail about how Geoff is controlled and adding the perfect Beavis and Butthead-style joke in the process (at least that’s how we imagine it sounding):
@RSA_News thanks for the Geoff love! (It’s not an iPad, though–it’s a radio control unit. Heh heh. Unit.)
Let Bygones Be Bygones
The other day, Craig responded to a tweet from British comedian Danny Baker who sent a photo taken in the mid 90s. Craig was captain of a team on a short-lived game show called Bygones, in which contestants answered music and popular culture questions from the past. The RSA’s Natalie found a partial clip of the show. It starts part way into the game and the other team takes the first turn. About two minutes in, you’ll see Craig leading his team guessing the music being performed and taking the lead.

Sharing Stories Craig Ferguson‘s sister Lynnrecently blogged about the importance of sharing stories and how sharing them in person sometimes still works just fine.
British Comedy Invasion
The Radio Times takes note of the growing role of comedians from the UK in American comedy. In an interview, Shane Allen, head of comedy programming for the BBC, has nice things to say about Craig.
Geoff’s Origins
The MythbustersGrant Imahara built Geoff Peterson in 2010. Today, Josh Robert Thompson voices and puppeteers Geoff using a live microphone and an a remote control unit. But in the early days, Geoff had a limited range of motion and had seven recorded phrases, voiced by Craig himself. Grant demonstrates the first control panel which was designed to be located behind Craig’s desk.
