Josh Stands Up
Josh Live in LAJosh Robert Thompson, the voice and puppeteer of robot skeleton sidekick Geoff Peterson, has been doing more stand up comedy in recent months, including an appearance in Los Angeles last week. Twitter user @Txgreekgirl was in the audience and captured a nice photo of Josh on stage. Don’t forget, Josh will be opening for Craig Ferguson at most of his stand up tour appearances this fall. As we’ve been reporting, author Stuart Neville‘s book The Ghosts of Belfast will soon become a film Last Man Out with a screenplay written by Craig Ferguson and Late Late Show writer Ted Mulkerin. In the meantime, another of Neville’s books is coming out in paperback. The Ratlines is now available now in the UK and will be released in paperback in the US in September.

New Doctor Named
Peter Capaldi 2 slThe BBC announced Sunday that Craig Ferguson‘s longtime friend Peter Capaldi will be named as the twelfth doctor in the long-running series Doctor Who. He will replace Matt Smith, who will end his run in the iconic role at the end of the year. The BBC posted a full report. Entertainment Weekly reported on the announcement and Capaldi’s Whovian credentials. The series has been on television for many of the past 50 years, with different actors portraying the time-traveling doctor. The character periodically regenerates, giving the show’s writers a way to explain the doctor’s different faces and personalities.

Upon hearing the news, Craig tweeted:

Great news that Peter Capaldi is the new Doctor. A spectacular talent and a beautiful man.

And the Mythbusters’ Grant Imahara joked:

Shark Week Begins
Shark After Dark slIt’s August, which means it’s time for Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. New this year will be the late night talk show Shark After Dark, hosted by comedian Josh Wolf and executive produced by Craig Ferguson and his production company, headed by Rebecca Tucker (yes, she is wearing a shark costume in her avatar), who tweeted:

Peter Capaldi slAs we reported earlier this week, the name of Craig Ferguson‘s longtime friend Peter Capaldi is being floated by bookies as a favorite to become the twelfth doctor in Doctor Who. It turns out Capaldi is a fan of the show… a proper Whovian. He wrote a letter to the Radio Times when he was a teenager, talking about his appreciation for the science fiction drama.
