Northern Lights slCraig Ferguson retweeted a link to an article written for Slate.com by his astronomer pal Phil Plait this week, highlighting an amazing display of the northern lights as seen from the window of an airplane.

An outside-the-airplane in-flight movie you won’t want to miss: An aurora dances on a transatlantic flight:

The video is a time-lapse compressed to just 52 seconds and is worth a watch, as are the still photos photographer Paul Williams posted on his Flickr account, including one that caught an image of a meteor.

It’s time once again for the endless stream of end-of-year “best of” polls on the interwebs. Last month, Craig Ferguson handily won the AdWeek “Hottest Late Night Host” category thanks to lots of votes from his robot skeleton army. Now, TV.com is launching its Best of 2013 poll, including the category of Funniest Late-Night Host. Craig is currently running second behind Stephen Colbert. If the RSA votes in force over the next few weeks, Craig could come out on top, so vote early and vote often.

Not the First Time

This isn’t Craig’s first Grammy nomination. He was nominated in 2010, also for Best Spoken Word Album, for his autobiography American on Purpose. The award eventually went to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents Earth.

Craig Improvs for Fun
Craig at UCB LA slAs Craig Ferguson mentioned on The Late Late Show on Wednesday night, he spent some time last weekend performing improv comedy with the Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles. He was joined by actor/comedian Ben Schwartz and others in the surprise visit. Craig has been known to pop up for a few minutes of stand up at clubs in the LA area, but as far as we’ve heard, this was his first time on stage with UCB. If our LA-area roboskellies hear of Craig making appearances anywhere in the area, please let us know!
