Almost Perfect
Craig on Almost PerfectEmmy winning writer/director/producer Ken Levine has written for some of the best shows on television, including M*A*S*H and Cheers, and has worked as a consultant for shows like Frasier and Wings. One of the shows he helped create was Almost Perfect, starring Nancy Travis. It ran for a full season starting in the fall of 1995, but CBS pulled the plug four episodes into season two. In all, 34 shows were produced. Ken recently posted an episode of the show on his blog, featuring an actor not yet well known in the United States named Craig Ferguson. He plays a character named Peter Church, who runs into the main character many years and recalls a past liaison. Thanks to the eagle-eyed @bgrhubarb for drawing our attention to the clips.

That Didn’t Take LongStephen Colbert Late Show Host
After waiting only a week for the news to settle in that David Letterman will be retiring as host of The Late Show on CBS in 2015, the network announced that comedian and satirist Stephen Colbert has been named the show’s new host. Putting an end to swirling speculation about possible replacements, the network says Colbert has signed a five-year deal. Dozens of media outlets have been reporting that Colbert plans to drop his faux conservative commentator character from The Colbert Report on Comedy Central and appear as himself on The Late Show.

Now, the media attention will turn back to Craig Ferguson, who has said in countless interviews over the past ten years that he was not interested in moving to 11:30. The question now becomes will he re-up for a longer run on The Late Late Show, or depart when his contract expires later this year? As we’ve said before, Craig is the only person whose opinion counts when it comes to his future plans, so we’ll wait and see what he has in store.

Craig was the first to congratulate Colbert on his new deal:

Congratulations to the hugely talented and fragrant and lovely on the new gig. Welcome to the CBS funhouse.
