Oh, Tom
Tom SnyderIt’s been seven years since the original host of The Late Late Show on CBS, Tom Snyder, passed away. Tom was a funny and tenacious interviewer, with decades of experience in television news, a national talk radio program and as host of The Tomorrow Show on NBC. He was also known to say things from time to time that weren’t the most tactful, but always with a twinkle in his eye. The industry website MediaBistro.com recently had a great story about what happened when Tom said something about trying to book his first guest for the LLS. Thanks to the RSA’s @bgrhubarb for the heads up.

Making the Case
Carrie and Craig slFormer VH1 Morning Buzz host Carrie Keagan wrote an article in this month’s Vanity Fair, making the case that it’s time for network television to have a woman hosting a late-night talk show. She references her most recent appearance on The Late Late Show when Craig Ferguson asked her to sit behind the desk. CBS has not yet made any decisions about the shows format or a host to follow Craig when he departs in December.

Check it out to see what Craig and Peter Capaldi as the Doctor are up to now.

In the Audience
CBS Television City slThe RSA’s @bgrhubarb keeps up with all things Craig Ferguson-related. She records the shows so she can rewind to the best bits just moments after the show ends, follows the “Tweety” around the clock for Craig news and has taken long road trips to see our fearless leader’s stand up comedy on the road. This summer, she journeyed Los Angeles to see a string of tapings of The Late Late Show at CBS Television City, and wrote a great post about her adventures.

CF Rules Comic-ConCraig at Comic Con sl
We weren’t the only ones enjoying Craig’s extensive appearances at Comic-Con in San Diego last weekend. In part of a longer article recapping the convention, the trade publication Variety had nice things to say about Craig’s reign as moderator-in-residence.

Which Came First?
On Wednesday night’s show, Craig asked if anyone could find the “Chick, chick, chick, chick chicken” song on the internet, and sure enough, a bunch of skellies did, including @hoborobot, who found this version and also found Cadbury’s “Finger of Fudge” ad. The chicken song was on records as early as the 1930’s with different lyrics. We’re guessing the group tasked with promoting eggs in Scotland borrowed the song and added it’s own lyrics. Here is a version from the UK:

This time, Chunky sits down with the voice and puppeteer of Geoff Peterson, Josh Robert Thompson, to talk about his work on the show and many other projects.
