Oh the Irony
Peoples Choice slAfter ten years as a late-night talk show host, Craig Ferguson has finally been nominated for a People’s Choice Award! The first few years, he wasn’t even on the nomination ballot and had to be written in by fans. And for the past few years, he missed out on nominations as satirists Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher and others have edged out more traditional hosts like Jay Leno to reach the top five. Now, just two months before ending his run on The Late Late Show, Craig has picked up a nomination. We wouldn’t be surprised if votes from RSA super fan @KarMerCoy alone put him over the top.

Craig tweeted:

I’ve been nominated for a award for Late Night Talk Show Host. I suggest lovers of irony should vote for me. Let’s win this!

So, hobo faithful, you know what this means: The Robot Skeleton Army must go on the march and vote like crazy between now and December 4. You can vote on the late-night talk show host page, and importantly, you can vote as many times as you want. Last year, something like a half a billion votes were cast (compared to the estimated 90 million votes in Tuesday’s midterm elections). Craig is competing against Conan O’Brien, David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel. The winner will be announced during the People’s Choice Awards ceremony on January 7th, live on CBS.

Vote early, vote often, and vote like crazy to avoid disappointment!

Rocky Horror MemoriesCraig in Rocky sl
Craig Ferguson has mentioned on The Late Late Show that he once spent a year in high heels. It wasn’t just a hobby. He is referring to a year he spent playing Brad Majors, the all-American kid, in a production of the Rocky Horror Show in London’s West End. We’ve seen clips surface here and there, but the RSA’s Lorne found a copy of the entire performance online and sent us a link.

Hugh Returns to TV
Hugh Laurie WallpaperAs we reported, the cable network AMC recently bought a 49 percent stake in BBC America. And we didn’t have to wait long to see what they might do with the partnership. It appears they have won a bidding war to screen a six- or eight-part adaptation of John le Carre‘s The Night Manager, reports The Hollywood Reporter. And excitingly, the two leads appear to be Tom Hiddleston and Craig’s show business pal Hugh Laurie, who makes his return to television after spending the past couple of years on the road as a thriving musician and the conclusion of his series House M.D. There’s no word on a start date, but plenty of promotion is expected.

Seeing Shows in Person
CBS Television City slThe RSA’s @pinkbirdie48840 had a chance to travel to Los Angeles recently to see Craig Ferguson at some tapings of The Late Late Show at CBS Television City. She sent us her story, which includes fun at the shows and meeting some fellow hobos along the way:

[stextbox id=”custom” caption=”Tapings in LA (Click the plus to read)”]
I flew out to LA last week to attend some #TLLS tapings:

I left Detroit late on Sunday, arriving at LAX around 9:30 pm. I ended up waiting nearly an hour for my shuttle to my hotel. LA traffic never ceases to amaze me. 10:30 pm on a Sunday night and the 405 looks like a weekday morning rush hour! I again stayed at the “Farmer’s Daughter”, a little boutique hotel across Fairfax from the CBS studio. Since all I was in town to do, was see Craig, no rental car was needed, and the Farmer’s Market and The Grove was right down the street for meals and/or shopping. No celebrity sightings outside of the studio this time around, but I didn’t mind, as all I wanted was to see Craig and Josh do their thing.

Prior to arriving, I had applied for tickets to all four days of tapings, but was granted only 1 priority ticket for Monday, and was placed on the waitlist for the other 3 days. I was bummed, but I had faith that 1Iota would come through for me! I got bad news on Monday in the form of an email from 1Iota, telling me that they were not able to grant my ticket request for Tuesday, but upon arriving for the show on Monday, I was happy to hear that William Shatner had been rescheduled and I would be seeing him! (He is why I really wanted to be there for Tuesday’s show!).

To make a very long story short….Even after getting emails from 1Iota telling me I wouldn’t be getting a ticket for Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, I ended up getting emails the day of or the night before, telling me that I had a “General admission” ticket! I came to town expecting to see only one show, and I ended up seeing all 4 that I originally requested!

The shows were all fantastic (of course!) and it was great to see Craig and hear everything without the flags and “toosiefruitsie”! Boy, can he and Josh cuss up a storm! And they are so naughty too! The innuendos were flying fast and furious and thanks to Bob, the warm up comedian (not a real comedian), Craig had some great comebacks regarding the “happy trail on fire” and the “sex froth”!

Besides seeing Craig and Josh, the best thing about this trip was meeting some awesome people that previously, I had only chatted with online (twitter or facebook) before, and one of them, I hadn’t chatted with previously, but we ended up next to each other in line and got to chatting and ended up having a great time together!

My first morning there, I had breakfast with @bgrhubarb as she was leaving LA that afternoon. We discovered we had many likes and dislikes in common and shared many laughs!

Later that day, while I waited in line, I met @best_coolcat and Lisa (I met her via facebook). On Tuesday, after the show, the 3 of us went to the Cheesecake Factory at The Grove for dinner and had a lot of laughs and had to remind ourselves to behave, and not cuss like Sid the bunny, because there was a child behind us.

On Thursday, I met @tammyy6 while standing in line, and we ended up sitting next to each other for the taping. After the show, we met up with @best_coolcat and had a quick dinner across the street at Tart, before I had to catch my shuttle to LAX for my red eye flight back to Detroit.

I’d say my week was darn near perfect. The only thing that could have made it better was some cooler temps. This northern girl had a tough time waiting outside in the heat. Monday – Wednesday it was in the low to mid 90’s and Thursday was much better in the upper 70’s with some clouds.

Needless to say, I had a wonderful time and am now regretting the cussing I did regarding the California heat and sun. We got snow here in Michigan the day I got back. 🙁
