Kirstie Alley will be Craig’s guest tonight and we’re wondering if a little bit of tongue-in-cheek sexual tension will be in the air. Check out the Twitter conversation, where earlier in the week, Kirstie considered their meeting: What’s on TV tonight? anything cool? I’m on Craig Ferguson on Thursday night…he is so cute, I hope I don’t start random makeout with him

Then she sent him a message: @CraigyFerg I’ll be on your show Thursday…hope you don’t try to make out with me continually between sets…it will take restraint

Always the gentleman, Craig responded yesterday: @kirstiealley I have a no make out policy with guests. I’ve only broken it once ( with Regis) so who knows… brush your teeth xxx

Then Kirstie upped the ante: @CraigyFerg I will not only brush my teeth, I will be wearing assless chaps…non-offensive assless chaps…sorta my signature xoxoxo

Today, Craig sent out this tweet: Genuine American Legend Willie Nelson on the show tonight as a reminder its tax day He then corrected himself with another nod to Kirstie: Oops. Willie Nelson not on show tonight. Hes on tomorrow. I hope this doesn’t mean I get audited by the IRS. @kirstiealley tonight. Sexy. Looks like a very flirtatious show tonight!

Craig also responded to the latest rumblings from Smilin’ Stan Lee of comic book fame, with another friendly offer:
@smilinstanlee Your sabre rattling causes great mirth mongstgst the boney legions. Calm thy rhetoric & join us for snacks & juice. Or die Let’s see how Stan reacts to this latest attempt at forging the peace!

Along with Kirstie Alley, singer Sade joins Craig on the Late Late Show tonight.

It seems that the possibility of war between Stan Lee’s POW! Brigade and Craig Ferguson’s Robot Skeleton Army is once again darkening the Twitterverse. In a series of tweets Wednesday evening, Stan once again raised the specter of conflict between the two groups, after he returned from speaking at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas: Be at ease, my brave Brigadiers! Your beloved Generalissimo is back, unscathed, from the field of battle which is Las Vegas! I have tales, both sordid and shocking, to tell from The City That Never Sleeps, because a well-informed Brigade is a mighty Brigade! Amazed was I to learn that I’d share the stage at the National Association of Broadcasters with Chris Hardwick—a CraigyFerg loyalist! Imagine my dismay when I learned that Chris is friendly with Olivia Munn, which means she too may have gone over to the dark side! The final blow was learning that CraigyFerg (I will not publicize his actual name) had never been informed that we were on the brink of war! What manner of militia ignores its leader while on the road to annihilation? Now, instead of hostility I feel sorrow for CraigyFerg Though we had once been battlefield foes, I—with a heart as big as all outdoors—now reach out to CraigyFerg and offer him– forgiveness. If he accepts my generous terms, I shall grant CraigyFerg—and his misguided skeletal warriors—full and complete amnesty. He has 48 hours to respond. Failure to do so will subject him to the wrath and the rage of 50,000 fearless Brigadiers! Stand ye at the ready, my valiant ones. Whate’er the gods may decree, we shall be true to our trust, to our mission, to our noble destiny No skeleton rabble can long endure ‘gainst those who fight for right and freedom. In this day of reckoning, we shall not be found wanting! Man then thy posts, my brave Brigadiers, secure in the knowledge that thy beloved Generalissimo is ever at thy side! Excelsior!

For his part, Craig has not yet responded. But as was reported in the RSA News on March 30th, it was Craig who offered an olive branch the last time conflict was brewing when he said: I will engage @smilinstanlee in double plus secret peace talks tomorrow. Perhaps an alliance can be forged. Gnite Skell – u – trons. As we reported on April 1st, war was averted and the POW! Brigade stood down.

Will Craig turn the other cheek once again? Will Stan Lee’s forces end what appears to be a carefully choreographed game of brinksmanship? We’ll keep you up to date the deadline approaches.

Geoff Petersen gave a new twist to the sidekick role last night, when he barked like a dog in response to Craig’s assertion that sometimes his thoughts are so high [pitched] that only dogs can hear them. Geoff also meowed at a Heidi Montag joke, providing equal time.

Television advertisers are interested in the ages of a program’s viewers, which helps them decide where to run their ads. In a short article this week, New York Magazine highlighted the median ages of the late night talk shows. The Late Late Show seems to be in the middle of the pack, although we suspect the median robot skeleton army member may be a bit younger as they focus their attention on the googly-web, the face-tube and the tweety. Thankfully, Craig appeals to all age groups.

The big buzz on the set of the Late Late Show today is apparently “shrimp chips”. Craig’s able assistant Rebecca Tucker questioned her decision to try them: sort of regretting my breakfast combo of watermelon and shrimp chips However, Late Late Show assistant producer Andrea Wayland likes them: I have just been introduced to a delicious thing called a Shrimp Chip. Do you guys know about these?! HOLY CRAP they are good. Shrimp Chip details: puffy (think pork rind) flavored like shrimp and melts in your mouth. Not greasy and size of large tortilla chip. YUM! We’ll have to check the snack aisle at our local grocery store.

Craig’s guests tonight are the always adorable Andie MacDowell, who will be promoting her movie “At Risk”, which debuts on Lifetime this Saturday and Scottish-born racing driver (and husband of actress Ashley Judd) Dario Franchitti, who finished third in last weekend’s Indy Grand Prix of Alabama.

It’s the second week with Geoff Petersen as Craig’s faithful sidekick and he seems to have found a home at the podium as the show begins… complete with a The Price is Right name tag.

Canadian bacon is people?!?

RSA member Colleen_Byrne (complete with a picture of a cockatoo) had one of her tweets read by Craig on the show last night. Woo hoo!

What a treat it was to see Kathy Kinney on Monday’s show. Many people know her from her role as Mimi Bobeck on the Drew Carey show. But did you know she is a multi-talented actress who has appeared in shows like Newhart, Seinfeld, Full House, The Larry Sanders Show and My Name is Earl… as well as several feature films including Scrooged, This Boy’s Life and Arachnophobia? You might see her pop up in episodes of The Secret Life of the American Teenager. And just last month she began a turn on Broadway as Madame Morrible in the smash hit musical Wicked. She is well known for her improvisational skills, which she shows in this clip of Whose Line is it Anyway?

Tonight, Craig’s guests are scheduled to be model-turned actor James Marsden and the unconventional comic actress Charlyne Yi.

A final note: We’re trying a new look for the RSA News page. Several people have suggested that black lettering on a white background is easier to read than white on black. Let us know what you think of the updated color scheme.

The late night wars have taken a new turn. When Conan O’Brien returns to television in the fall, it wont’ be on the Fox broadcast network but on cable network TBS. CNN is reporting the news, quoting TBS officials. The Washington Post added more detail, including a funny quote from Conan. He’ll be on at 11pm ET/PT, giving him a half-hour jump on Letterman and Leno.

Late night will becomes even more entangled with overlapping time periods, leaving the fall schedule looking something like this:

11pm:
ABC/CBS/NBC – Local News
Comedy Central – The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart
E! – Chelsea Lately w/Chelsea Handler
TBS – Conan O’Brien

11:35pm
ABC – Nightline
CBS – Late Night w/David Letterman
NBC – The Tonight Show with Jay Leno
Comedy Central – The Colbert Report

12:05am
ABC – Jimmy Kimmel Live
TBS – Lopez Tonight w/George Lopez

12:35am
CBS – The Late Late Show w/Craig Ferguson
NBC – Late Night w/Jimmy Fallon

1:35am
NBC – Last Call w/Carson Daly

We’re pretty sure that’s right… check your local listings this fall to be sure. The bottom line for Craig Ferguson is that he’ll continue to compete directly against Jimmy Fallon and indirectly with Jimmy Kimmel’s second half-hour, along with George Lopez.

Although O’Brien’s parting of the ways with NBC allows him to return to television in September, his new show will begin in November, to allow TBS to complete its contract with Major League Baseball. It will host several games in the American League playoffs in October. TBS wanted O’Brien to be able to start up the new show uninterrupted, according to the New York Times.

Left out of the mix on weeknights will be Fox. Several media reports indicate that local Fox affiliate stations were more interested in running syndicated programming (and holding onto the advertising revenue they currently enjoy from such shows) during the 11pm hour than Conan, making negotiations with the network more difficult. Fox does offer Wanda Sykes in the 11pm timeslot on Saturday nights up against NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

Craig is having fun with technology again, tweeting this Sunday evening: Am listening to Brazilian lounge music and playing with my new I-pad. What happened to me man? At least I stole the ipad from Betty White

Thanks to RSA members ElevationGrace and SecretNakedHobo for alerting us to some new offerings at the Robot Skeleton Army store, (organized by RSA member Colleen_Byrne) including “Ass Mode” stickers, RSA buttons and more. Some items listed in our original post were from other vendors. Check it out… and remember proceeds go to charity. In April, the designated charity is the Lollipop Theater Network. Previous donations have gone to the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders for post-earthquake help in Haiti and Chile.

Don’t forget: It’s a Mr. Wick and Mimi reunion tonight on the Late Late Show, as the funny Kathy Kinney joins Craig, along with fashion expert Tim Gunn.

Craig has become a fan of television critics for many reasons, not the least of which is his ability to relate to viewers through the camera. One blogger explains why he thinks more people should watch.

In case you missed it, the Los Angeles Times did an extensive article about Craig back in Feburary (pre-sidekick and pre-Dragon movie) that goes into detail about the Late Late Show and Craig’s success.

Monday night’s Late Late Show could be a reunion of epic proportions. Kathy Kinney, the woman who created the unique character “Mimi” on The Drew Carey Show, will be Craig’s guest along with the dapper Tim Gunn.
