It’s a great day for America, everybody. Malinky2Stoatir has a new home on YouTube, where new episodes of the Late Late Show can be found. It’s called TV’sCraigFerguson‘s channel.

Here is what Mal posted on Twitter today: JOIN, or DIE. http://www.youtube.com/user/TVsCraigFerguson#p/c/D888445C4FD21585 #craigferguson #RSA Relax & smile with my meager offering. Please be patient and enjoy your dose… I will blog on all this weekend. I don’t think it is possible for the old channel to return…she’s just gone. Thank you all so very much for your support & attention…your efforts were heart swelling & your love was comforting to my soul.

You’re welcome, Mal. Thanks for everything you do. We’ll keep an eye on Mal’s blog for updates this weekend. In the meantime, showing your support with the #Malinky2Stoatir hashtag is still certainly welcomed. It’s a nice way to show our appreciation.

The tweet-a-thon is essentially done for now. There were more than 4400 tweets by more than 400 RSA members, and more than 1100 names on the petition to YouTube. There’s no word from them if or when any action will be taken. One of the greatest values of the channel is as a collection, with more than a year and a half of episodes not stored elsewhere. Let’s hope that’s something the folks at YouTube take into consideration. For now, Mal is essentially starting from scratch.

Thanks to everyone who tweeted and re-tweeted our posts over the last 30 hours or so. It is much appreciated and helps spread the word to the RSA.

One of the videos Mal had posted was a birthday tribute to Craig, which we completely missed when it was first posted. It has been re-posted for your enjoyment. If you haven’t seen it, take a look. It’s a work of RSA art!

In other, more everyday news: Although he is out of the studio today, Craig was tweeting up a storm with this plug: Follow @mindykaling for gripping notary stories. She’s the Robert Louis Stevenson of TV. And this observation: Wierdly snug suit from last nights show has been retired even though the aging pervert look is de rigeur this season. Then, he re-tweeted an interesting question from @sesamestreet: Elmo: Elmo loves his red fur! What color is your fur? Good question.

As we have mentioned here, former Late Late Show host Craig Kilborn will be hosting a new show in the fall. TVSquad has more details about the show.

Tonight on an all new Late Late Show, actress Holly Hunter plays her usual round of verbal chess with Craig, followed by music by The Hold Steady.

Tweet-a-thon Info: The hashtag #Malinky2Stoatir has been tweeted more than 1500 times since word broke this afternoon that Mal’s YouTube account was suspended. It seems to be a clear message to YouTube that its viewers are upset by the suspension. More than 500 people have signed the online petition.

Because the news is only about eight hours old, fewer than 200 individual Twitter users have been tweeting the tag, making it difficult to trend. There is no particular ending time set for this tweeting effort. It’s best not to go too overboard but continuing to tag tweets with #Malinky2Stoatir will help to spread the word to other Late Late Show fans. Don’t be discouraged by early numbers. Many tweet-a-thons spend weeks building up and letting people know about the plan. For now, this is a good way to rally fans and make them aware of the issue. Let’s hope the message is getting through and will help persuade YouTube to review the suspension.

A movement is underway among some RSA members to do a tweet-a-thon beginning at 8pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). That translates to 7pm CDT, 6pm MDT, 5pm PDT (and Arizona) and 1am British Summer Time (GMT+1). Double-check this site to check your time if you aren’t sure. The idea to tweet a simple and direct message. If enough people tweet around the same time, it could possibly trend. Be careful not to re-tweet too much before or during this time, so you don’t get put into Twitter jail. And remember, tweets work better than re-tweets.

The suggested message is this one, which you can cut and paste:

@YouTube Please reinstate unfairly flagged #Malinky2Stoatir channel. Read petition: http://tinyurl.com/SaveMal Thank you.

Again, if a large number send this once or twice during the hour, it may trend. Any more than that and it becomes spam.

Also, for those on Facebook, there is now a place to post.

What not to do: It’s probably best not to message the show’s producers, Craig himself or CBS at this time to complain. Remember, Craig and the show were supportive and CBS was at least not bothered by it. A more organized message to YouTube may be more effective because they have the ability to lift the suspension. Also, we’re being told that Mal is swamped with messages right now… there’s no need to message directly. Finally, it probably won’t help to threaten YouTube. Bashing them, faxing them or flooding their phone lines won’t make them listen. A Twitter campaign and petition may be more effective.

What to do: There is at least one online petition being circulated of which we are aware. Many voices are more effective than one and if the focus is positive, they may pay attention. Keep it simple. Messages can also be sent to @YouTube on Twitter and hashtag with #malinky2stoatir if you’d like. Direct your energy toward a possible solution. We’ll keep you up to date if anything should change.

The RSA’s top video maven, @Malinky2Stoatir’s YouTube channel was suspended today. It is unclear at this time why the account was suspended. We tried to reach Mal but have not heard back.

As a copyright holder to material from the Late Late Show, CBS would have the right to ask YouTube to suspend the channel, however it is unlikely that CBS was responsible, for two reasons: Firstly, the LLS’s producer, Michael Naidus, has publicly thanked Mal for posting the clips and helping to generate interest in the show. In a tweet dated February 16th, he said: @malinky2stoatir Thanks, and we realize the amount ofwork you do as well … it helps the show, and it’s appreciated. And secondly, CBS has been by far the most lax among the major networks to enforce such a rule. NBC for example, has been much more vigilant because of its stake in Hulu, which is why few clips of The Tonight Show or Late Night with Jimmy Fallon survive on YouTube. However, there are literally thousands of clips of CBS programs, including the LLS and The Late Show with David Letterman. At least a half dozen channels post LLS clips regularly and all of the others remain up and running as of today.

The more likely cause was an attempt by a viewer or viewers to flag the channel. Mal’s twit stream indicated there has been an ongoing problem with someone posting comments/spam on each clip. That poster, who was eventually banned, may have done something to flag or otherwise draw YouTube’s attention to the channel. It’s not known if the suspension will be permanent.

A new tweet/email jingle debuted last night on the show, featuring Geoff Petersen in an India-themed animation.

There are no more Late Late Show tapings the rest of this week. The segments for the next three nights were taped earlier (shh!) at the studio in Television City. Craig and the gang will be back in house on Monday, May 24th.

Tonight on the Late Late Show, Craig’s guests are actor Dennis Quaid and Sex and the City 2 actress Alice Eve. Don’t forget, Craig appears live in Las Vegas this Friday and Saturday at the Venetian Hotel and Casino.

It’s all about Twitter in today’s RSA News. Birthday wishes continued to pour in to Craig last night and this morning. One exchange was particularly amusing:

Craig tweeted: @thomaslennon usually jumps out of a cake in my driveway on my birthday but he didn’t show this year. At least Fabio made it.

Thomas Lennon, the actor who plays Lt. Dangle on Reno 911 sent this: About to pop out of a cake in the driveway of birthday boy @CraigyFerg. Hope it’s the right house.

Twitter user and big Star Trek fan Charles Trotter then said: @thomaslennon just popped out of a cake in my driveway wearing nothing but chaps. wtf? Does Google Earth still have my house listed as @craigyferg‘s? We’re on opposite coasts, you’d think they’d get it right!

To which Lennon responded: Whoops. Thanks Google Earth.

Then actress Nia Vardalos chimed in: Where can I order this cake?

And Trotter responded: If @thomaslennon keeps using Google Earth to find @craigyferg, he’s bound to end up at your place eventually. 🙂

Craig also re-tweeted birthday greetings from Chris Hardwick of The Nerdist: Happy Birthday @CraigyFerg! You’re a fine gent and I hope you had a kick-ass day.

Today, Craig tweeted this: In Disney Studio B in Burbank recording Owl’s song for next years Wnnie the Pooh movie. What a hoot! We’ve talked about Craig’s role in the Winnie the Pooh movie here, which comes out next year.

The Mythbusters’ Grant Imahara who built robot skeleton sidekick Geoff Petersen continues to worry about robot skeletons taking over the world. Last night, he tweeted another possible sign: Apparently, it all begins with office machines… http://bit.ly/9NP1k0

And Craig’s assistant Rebecca Tucker tweeted about yesterday’s festivities at the studio: note to self: do not start a diet on boss’ birthday. unless the diet includes lots of cookies. Glad to hear Craig’s birthday was celebrated in style!

Many members of the RSA were tweeting like mad yesterday, hoping to get #happybirthdaycraigy to trend on Twitter. Although it did not appear to trend worldwide (through briefly in Canada as RSA member Banana_Happy spotted), the hashtag was tweeted more than 6700 times in 36 hours. Trending gurus tell us it’s not always the number of times a tag is tweeted that makes it trend, but rather the number of users tweeting it in a short period of time. Those 6700 #happybirthdaycraigy tweets came from fewer than 450 of Craig’s 198,735 followers, when often more than a thousand are needed. If all 450 people who tweeted yesterday get a couple of friends to help next time and focus on a specific hour or two during the day, chances of a trend will be much improved. It goes to show just how widespread and tenacious those Justin Bieber fans are.

It’s back to all new shows for the rest of the week. Tonight, Craig welcomes actor/writer/director Jon Favreau and musician Jakob Dylan to the Late Late Show. Producer Michael Naidus’ tweet: 106 characters on the show: Jon Favreau and Craig reminisce about working on a movie together. (Spoiler alert: they never worked together.)

It’s a great day for America, everybody. Craig Ferguson turns 48 years old today and is celebrating by… working. He is taping a new introduction for tonight’s encore presentation of the Desmond Tutu interview as well as taping (shh!) a couple of segments with guests who will appear later in the week.

To celebrate, RSA members are hashtagging their tweets with #happybirthdaycraigy all day, which as of 5pm eastern time Monday had been tweeted more than three thousand times. Among those sending wishes were two Mythbusters: Grant Imahara: Happy Birthday @CraigyFerg! and Adam Savage: Meester Ferguson, a happy happy birthday to you sir. Craig’s stand up comic touring partner Randy Kagan chimed in: Without one crazy fuckin Scottish guy being hatched, I’d be boiling my own body parts for food. Happy Bday brotha! Another well-wisher, Ugly Betty actor Christopher Gorham said: A little @SunnyAnnie84 told me it’s your BD today. Happy birthday! (SunnyAnnie84 is an RSA member who runs the Craig@theInternet fan forum.) Notorious flirt Kirstie Alley chimed in: Happy Birthday Craig.. would have bought you a Jaguar if you had called me 4 years ago…since you didn’t..Happy Jaguar Birthday Even comic book legend Stan Lee was gracious: Happy Birthday to the valiant CragyFerg! A truly noble Generalissimo graciously extends best wishes to his former, vanquished foe.

Craig acknowledged the birthday wishes and congratulations with a colorful reply: Thanks to all for the birthday wishes. I’m 48 today. I need a facelift a sports car & a toupee. Or maybe just a nap. Fuck. He added: Happy birthday to @bobsaget & enya & Dennis Hopper & Trent Reznor. I love you guys. You understand.

In lieu of gifts, fans are encouraged to make donations to causes Craig has supported, such as the USO and the Lollipop Theater Network.

Entertainment Weekly‘s Ken Tucker talks about the Tutu interview in his blog today. EW also reports today that the multi-million dollar sound stage at Universal Studios, built for Conan O’Brien’s stint at the Tonight Show will remain vacant. O’Brien will be taping his new TBS show at Warner Bros.

Tonight on the Late Late Show, don’t miss the encore presentation of Craig’s interview with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, which was honored with the George Foster Peabody Award at a ceremony today. Executive Producer Peter Lassally accepted the award on behalf of the show. Publicist Katie Barker attended the award luncheon and tweeted: At the Peabody award luncheon in NYC – so proud of @craigyferg and The Late Late Show for being awarded with “excellence in broadcasting”

Craig’s birthday is tomorrow: Monday, May 17th. Some RSA members are hoping to get the hashtag #happybirthdaycraigy to trend tomorrow, so get ready to tweet!

Craig continued his tweets about Dr. Who: Watched latest Dr Who. I think River Song might be Geoff Petersen. Also I’m now afraid of statues. He also re-tweeted actor and micro-donation activist Edward Norton: A friend just wrote: “4 yr old kid needs bone marrow transplant — a tough match. It could be you. Consider RT: http://www.matchdevan.com/

Twitter jingle fans: On Friday, LLS assistant producer Andrea Wayland tweeted that a new one may be on the way: I think it’s very possible that we may see the debut of a new Twitter jingle in the near future. And yes, I’m a Pisces.

Late Late Show producer Michael Naidus had a great interview with Movieline.com back in November about Craig the show. It’s a fun read and a nice look behind the scenes.

The folks over at WeLoveSoaps.net caught Craig’s monologue on Thursday about the cancellation of As The World Turns.

It’s another week of all new episodes of the Late Late Show. Things kick off Monday, with an encore presentation of Craig’s interview with Archbishop Desmond Tutu. It’s a candid, open exchange sprinkled with wisdom and humor, clearly worth of the Peabody Award which will be formally presented to Late Late Show Executive Producer Peter Lassally on Monday. On Tuesday, actor/writer/director Jon Favreau comes to the show, along with music by Jakob Dylan. On Wednesday, actor Dennis Quaid and actress Alice Eve are Craig’s guests. Thursday will feature music by The Hold Steady and one of Craig’s favorite guests, the deadpan funny Holly Hunter. And on Friday, Craig welcomes actor Ben Kingsley and music by Sarah McLachlan.

As promised in an earlier episode, Craig watched Dr. Who last night and tweeted about it: Just watched my 1st episode of Dr Who in about 35 years. Hasn’t changed much. Still awesome. And even better, his tweet made Twitter’s home page for a time last night! RSA member Banana_Happy was kind enough to capture it and share it with us.

While promoting his book last fall, Craig appeared on ABC’s The View. As always, he made the ladies laugh. Enjoy.

Don’t forget, Monday is Craig’s birthday. Rather than gifts, why not make a donation to an organization Craig supports, such as the USO or the Lollipop Theater Network. You’ll be glad you did. And on Monday, a group of RSA members are trying to get #happybirthdaycraigy to trend on Twitter, so hashtag those tweets!

It’s Friday, often a quiet day on the set of the Late Late Show at CBS Television City but the crew is working on tonight’s live (shh!) show. Maybe the spirit of Tom Cruise is infusing the show with new (and possibly completely mad) energy. It’s a good rule in Hollywood and anywhere else: Crazy’s okay, as long as it’s your kind of crazy.

Late Late Show Producer Michael Naidus sometimes tweets a capsule of the show after the taping (shh!) but before it airs, using 106 characters. On Wednesday night, he offered this: 106 characters: Who wins the squid battle? Who was right about the studio audience (spoiler alert: not me) … Can you still offend Nazis? Last night’s was particularly interesting: 106 characters on the show: OW! OW! OW! OW! OW! OW!OW! OW! OW!OW! OW! OW!OW! OW! OW!OW! OW! OW!OW! OW! OW!OW! OW! OW!OW! OW! OW!OW! OW! OW! Can’t wait to see what he tweets about tonight!

Craig continues to be in demand as a feature film voice talent. As reported here previously, he will be the voice of “Owl” in Disney’s new Winnie the Pooh movie. It was announced today that the film will be a little more than a year from now.

Another change is coming to the late-night landscape. It appears Fox has canceled Wanda Sykes Saturday night show.

Humorist Dave Barry was pushed from last night’s show by Craig’s long conversation with Robert Downey, Jr. Barry is said to be returning “next week sometime” but has not appeared on the schedules so far. Craig’s guests tonight are Letters to Juliet actress Amanda Seyfried and Chilean-American author of La Isla bajo el mar Isabel Allende.
