Craig Ferguson was interviewed live online on the Kevin Pollack Chat Show on Sunday afternoon, drawing a crowd of more than 800 viewers including lots of roboskellies! If you didn’t get a chance to see it, it should be filed in the archive section of Kevin’s website within a few days. Thanks to RSA member Banana_Happy for the great screen captures!

Among the interesting points that came out during the interview, Kevin played role of Drew Carey’s boss “Mr. Bell” (almost always as a voice on a phone) during the first season of The Drew Carey Show. When the show’s producers wanted to expand the role and Kevin declined, they offered the part to others (including Hugh Laurie) before choosing Craig for what became his breakout role in America. How’s that for one degree of separation?

Also during the interview, they talked about Craig’s unique storytelling approach to his monologues, the writing staff for the show, Craig’s fear of flying and Kurt Russel’s role in getting him into flying lessons. They answered questions from the audience including RSA members SecretNakedHobo, Rayscomadtod, Colleen_Byrne and ReminduofAnyone.

For Kevin Pollak Chat Show newbies: The Kevin Pollak Chat Show is an internet-only interview show, hosted by actor/producer/comedian Kevin Pollak… yes, the guy from A Few Good Men and many, many more movies. He is excited about the potential of the internet for entertainment and started the show as a place to interview interesting actors, comedians and behind-the-scenes folks in Hollywood. As you can see from the archives, he has interviews lots of big-name people. The show itself is very loose… he chats with his producer offstage, jokes about the show and has lots of fun. The first several minutes of the show are usually just Kevin telling stories. Then after various notes and thank you’s, he introduces the guest for a long talk. Topics can be all over the map and the questions and answers are often quite unique for a talk show format. They take viewer questions on the show… including single questions, or sometimes a rapid-fire game called “Tweet 5” with five “this or that” kinds of questions like “paper or plastic”. And before the guest can leave, they have to play “The Larry King Game,” in which they have to do a bad Larry King impression, say something odd that Larry might say on the show and go to the phones… it helps if the city is funny-sounding. It will all make sense when you watch. When the show is archived, enjoy a candid/sometimes serious/sometimes funny/totally entertaining interview with Craig!

In December of 2009, Craig appeared on the Ellen show. There entire interview is contained here in one part… the “part 3/6” in the title refers to that day’s entire Ellen Episode.

On his tour of the Southeastern US earlier this year, Craig performed in Orlando, Florida. That morning, he appeared on a local radio show.

Ending the week on the Late Late Show with Craig are actor Mark Ruffalo and actor D.J. Qualls.

Does he or doesn’t he? The question has been bandied about on Twitter for a few days… does Craig dye his hair? Back when his run on the Late Late Show began, CBS asked him to dye his hair but the result was what Craig called “creepy”. Since then, he has allowed it be natural, complete with gray. Sometimes the lighting in the studio makes it look a little different but Craig himself gave the definitive answer on the Tweety last night: Just so we are all on the same page. I do NOT dye my hair….on my head anyway. Pubes = dayglo orange. Punk rock privates.

Reminder: On Sunday, Craig will appear live online on the Kevin Pollak Chat Show at 6pm ET/3pm PT. The loose, unscripted interview show usually runs 90 minutes to two hours, starting with several minutes of introductory comments from Kevin (who this weekend will be fresh off a week-long comedy tour of Canada), followed by the guest interview. Along the way, they may play a twitter game or two and Craig will be asked to do a bad Larry King impression… all part of the fun of the show. The Kevin Pollak Chat Show can be seen on Kevin’s website or directly on UStream.

The Nerdist himself, Chris Hardwick is pretty excited to be on tonight’s Late Late Show: Thrilled beyond human comprehension to be doing Late Late Show w/ @CraigyFerg tonight! Tune in to that business! And it is a busy day at Television City, according to LLS assistant producer Andrea Wayland: Jam packed day today! Must be at the top of my game. Using caffeine and winning smile to accomplish this. While Andrea smiles, Rebecca Tucker is lamenting the state of her diet today: Intern Adam forced me to break my Bahamas diet by suprising the staff with Bob’s Donuts!

Craig’s guests on tonight’s Late Late Show are actress Virginia Madsen, host of the Nerdist podcast Chris Hardwick and Scottish musician Justin Currie. Saffron Burrows was scheduled last night but disappeared. The LLS “guest black hole” must have been at work again.

Big news! You can see Craig interviewed live online this weekend, on the Kevin Pollak Chat Show! For more than a year, Kevin has hosted an informal online talk show where he chats with celebrity guests for an hour or two or even more. If you’ve never seen the “Webby” Award-winning show, take a quick look at Kevin’s website. You can submit questions ahead of time on Twitter, watch the interview live on Sunday or see it in the archives a short time later. Kevin and his guests are relaxed, the conversations are in-depth and revealing and the shows are always entertaining. We’ll have more details about the show in the next couple of days. This can be a great RSA event because we can all watch online together! Spread the word!

Craig retweeted a picture from Nerdist host Chris Hardwick from last week’s taping of the Nerdist podcast. If you haven’t checked it out, it’s a great show with plenty of Craig and a surprise appearance by Adam Savage from the Mythbusters. Craig is introduced at about 27 minutes into the two-hour program.

The Late Late Show is looking for great tweets. Help keep the tweets and emails segment of the show by sending your questions (with name and city) to @CraigyFerg. Craig’s assistant Rebecca Tucker made the appeal on Twitter earlier today: Come on people, we need some fresh new tweets for Craig to read tonight! Dig deep and give us your best! While responding to a question about abbreviations, assistant producer Andrea Wayland said this: It’s best to spell them out but if you need to abbreviations are ok. It’s easier to read the whole word, obviously. She also responded to a question about why some questions aren’t read or are edited: sometimes it’s for time reasons but the originality/appropriateness of the tweet is detrimental to them being read. So be original, be appropriate and don’t try too hard to be funny. Maybe your question will be read on the air like RSA member K7MalFanRSA’s was last night… or should we call her “Hootie”? *wink*

On tonight’s Late Late Show, actor Tim Allen and actress Saffron Burrows are Craig’s guests.

What a blockbuster Late Late Show last night! Not only did we hear the big news that Craig will be hosting “Shark Week” on the Discovery Channel beginning August 1st, see a performance from comedian Jeff Stilson delayed from last week and enjoy a special appearance by Betty White, we also heard Craig confirm that vacuum inventor James Dyson will appear on the show next week, complete with the “proper amount of suction”! It doesn’t get much better than this.

“Shark Week” on the Discovery Channel begins August 1st and will feature Craig diving in the Caribbean to get up close and personal with some sharks… and not the puppet kind. Craig may be having second thoughts, as he tweeted: Watched Jaws on cable. Mistake. Hosting Shark Week now seems foolhardy. Sharks unaffected by sarcasm & self loathing. My only weapons. Grant Imahara warned Craig not to take Geoff Petersen along on the shark expedition: BTW Geoff is only “water-resistant”…

Craig also tweeted today to the creator of the Bones TV series: Writing the new season eh? Don’t forget my cameo as mad Dr MacBoneo from Glasgow ( you can change the name if you want) xxx

Betty White’s new sitcom Hot in Cleveland debuts tomorrow night on TVLand. She’s part of an all-star cast featuring veteran television comediennes Valerie Bertinelli (One Day at a Time/Touched by an Angel), Wendie Mallick (Just Shoot Me) and Jane Leeves (Frasier).

It should be a fun night on the Late Late Show with Craig’s guests, rapper Ice Cube and comedian Tig Notaro. Plus, a conversation with the leader of the POW! Brigade (Craig’s occasional Twitter nemesis) and legendary comic book creator, Stan Lee.

Those cheeky monkeys at the Nerdist went ahead and posted the podcast featuring Craig late Sunday night instead of today as promised. And when they did, Craig re-tweeted it to the world. So, for the two or three of you who haven’t already heard it, enjoy the link. The Podcast runs about two hours.

Update: Craig tweeted after today’s taping of the Late Late Show (shh!) and promises something big: BIG NEWS on the show tonight. Slightly incontinent with excitement. We’ve heard a rumor about what it is but we’ll wait to see tonight’s show.

Earlier this year as How To Train Your Dragon was being released, Craig talked with Manny the Movie Guy about the role of “Gobber”.

Tonight on the Late Late Show, Craig welcomes actor Bradley Whitford and singer/songwriter Shelby Lynne performs her new song “Why Didn’t You Call Me?”.
