The Late Late Show will run a half-hour later than usual again this evening, as CBS Sports airs another 30 minute special program recapping today’s action in the PGA Championship following Late Night with David Letterman.  Please check your local listings for the time in your region.  The LLS returns to its usual time on Monday, with two weeks of programs from the rerun fairy.

Emma Thompson‘s joke on the LLS about the Isle of Wight has garnered some criticism, as reported in today’s Telegraph, as well as the Daily Mail, MonstersAndCritics.com and the Evening Standard.

TVSquad.com focused on Thompson’s story about her father and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In tonight’s final fresh, new episode of the Late Late Show until August 30th, Craig performs a comedy sketch with Alfred Molina, reads tweets and emails with the @Nerdist Chris Hardwick and interviews actress Anna Kendrick.

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson will air a half-hour later than usual in most markets around the country Thursday and Friday, August 12 and 13 due to CBS coverage of the PGA Championship following Late Night with David Letterman.  Each golf special will last 30 minutes.  Check your local listings for the times in your region. You may want to double-check your DVR… some models will automatically adjust for the schedule change but others may not.  Thanks to @snowster17 and others for the heads up.

For those who can’t stay up that late, RSA General @Malinky2Stoatir will post the show on her TVsCraigFerguson channel tomorrow… and tonight’s episode featuring actress Emma Thompson and comedian Carlos Alazraqui will be rebroadcast on CBS next Wednesday during the first of two rerun weeks.

The folks at TVSquad.com and MonstersAndCritics.com highlighted Betty White‘s appearance as a firefighter on last night’s Late Late Show.  New York Magazine enjoyed Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s discussion of words and phrases that can mean different things on different sides of the Atlantic.

The voice of Geoff Petersen, Josh Robert Thompson was having fun at a recording session for American Dad today:  At Warner Bros., waiting 4 Justin Timberlake to leave the booth so I can record. Who’s the dick in a box now? 😉

As we mentioned above, tonight on the Late Late Show, British actress Emma Thompson and comedian Carlos Alazraqui will be Craig’s guests.

Discovery Channel’s Shark Week broke its own viewership record, according to Spinoff Online.

Here’s a good sign that Discovery will continue having Shark Weeks for the foreseeable future: This year’s celebration of the large-mouthed killers was the most successful one ever.  This year’s Shark Week was the 23rd annual marathon of special programming devoted to the underwater predators, and yet it still managed to set a ratings record for the Discovery Channel, with 30.8 million people tuning in, breaking 2008?s previous record of 29.1 million. Clearly, hiring Craig Ferguson to host an hour-long special for the week was the right idea.

Could it be the influence of Craig‘s robot skeleton army? We’d like to think so.

Our friends at TVSquad.com took notice of Craig mocking Jay Leno‘s “Jaywalking” segment.

Tonight on the Late Late Show, the irreplaceable Betty White returns for a comedy sketch, plus Craig talks with actress Maggie Gyllenhaal and enjoys the music of alternative rocker Julie Gribble.

Okay, okay. Maybe a little bit more of Shark Week stuff, just because it’s fun.  The RSA’s @Colleen_Byrne put together a collection of screen captures from Craig‘s special last week.

The folks over at Extra had some fun with Lindsay Sloane‘s use of the word “poof” on the show, when referring to a Jersey Shore hairstyle.

As Craig tweeted on Saturday, the North County Times of San Diego/Escondido followed up that Craig and his son enjoyed a special event this past weekend:

People watching: Talk-show host Craig Ferguson joined the thousands of fans attending “Star Wars Days” at Legoland over the weekend. The host of “Late Night With Craig Ferguson” and his 9-year-old son, Milo, a big “Star Wars” fan, met Darth Vader and some Imperial Stormtroopers on Saturday before heading to the new Legoland water park. … It wasn’t just official fan club members who got attention at the weekend event. Spokeswoman Beth Chee said the costumes of some of the guests were so realistic that they could barely make their way through the park. “The lines were 15 deep stopping them to take pictures,” Chee said.

The Hollywood Reporter says Jimmy Fallon has the greatest social media impact among late-night show hosts but Craig did make the list as well.

Tonight on the Late Late Show, Craig talks with actor David Duchovny and author/humor columnist Dave Barry.

Late Late Show assistant producer Andrea Wayland confirmed that the show and staff are on summer break this month.  The LLS studio at CBS Television City will be quiet until August 30th.  This week will feature all new shows with segments taped over the past few weeks, followed by two weeks of the re-run fairy before new episodes start up again.  We’ll post each week’s complete guest list on Sundays as usual.  And if you have any questions for Craig for tweets and emails, you may want to wait until August 30 to ask them.

One final post about Shark Week (we know there have been a bunch). Thanks to the wonderful @Malinky2Stoatir, if you missed Craig’s Shark Week special, you can see it online. Note:  When you open it, you may have to click the “play” button in the center a couple of times and close the advertising windows before the show starts running (when the play button turns green, it’s for real).  Depending on your download speed, it may be useful to pause it at the beginning and let some of the show load before hitting play again to avoid buffering.

Craig has reached 300,000 followers on Twitter, achieving that feat after only a little over six months. Thanks to the RSA’s @SunnyAnnie84 for capturing the moment.  We’ll have to wait until the end of the month to see if there will be any sort of celebratory dance.

Craig had fun over the weekend, including a (sort of) star sighting, as he tweeted:  Spent all day at Legoland with my son during Star Wars weekend. Gushed like a fangirl when I met Darth Vader. He’s my Justin Bieber

Tonight on the Late Late Show, Craig talks with actress Lindsay Sloane and we’ll hear music by Vampire Weekend.

The folks at Time Magazine did a Q & A interview with Craig about a year ago, where he talks candidly about his past.

The British newspaper The Independent did an extensive story on Craig in 2008.

In 2008, Craig appeared on the brief revival of the game show Password. We stumbled across a promotion for the show.

Does anyone have the episode? A post of Craig’s moments would be most welcome.

Anna Kendrick

It’s an all-new week of the Late Late Show, beginning Monday with actress Lindsay Sloane and music by Vampire Weekend.  On Tuesday, Craig welcomes actor David Duchovny and author Dave Barry.  Then on Wednesday, get ready for a comedy sketch featuring the one and only Betty White, plus Craig talks with actress Maggie Gyllenhaal and music by Julie Gribble.  English actress Emma Thompson and comedian Carlos Alazraqui arrive on Thursday and on Friday, watch for a comedy sketch with Alfred Molina, emails with @Nerdist Chris Hardwick and an interview with actress Anna Kendrick.

Craig is not only a great talk show host, he’s a great guest, as he proves on this excerpt from his appearance on Larry King Live back in 2009.

The Los Angeles Times had nice things to say about Craig in a blog post back in February.

In September of last year, the website CinemaSpy.com explained why they love Craig.

August 7th is Beach Party Day and Sea Serpent Day.  Coincidence?  Sounds like a sea serpent plot to us.
