When Russel Brand appears on the show, no one knows what might happen… including Geoff Petersen.  The liquid assault and half-decapitation appears to have done Geoff no long-lasting harm but it sure got the volcano talking.  When Craig tweeted that Russel went after his robot skeleton sidekick, Geoff said:  True. @rustyrockets gave me a bath and wallop. Lost my head but kept it, too. @craigyferg made sure I was put back together. Watch + see He assured his creator, Mythbusters Grant Imahara:  @grantimahara just so you know, @craigyferg had my back. And, as it turned out, my skull. To which Grant responded:  @CraigyFerg Don’t worry about @GeoffTheRobot. I’ve built robots for movies, TV, and @BattleBots. He’s tough… And Geoff added:   @grantimahara is right. I’m fine. @rustyrockets did not give me rusty sockets. I have one thing to say today to Mr. Brand. Peacey weace.

For his part, Russel has apologized in his own way:  @GeoffTheRobot I acted out of anger and cyber-sexual frustration. I apologise and hope we can become friends. Or more. And Geoff accepted:  @rustyrockets I felt before & feel now you R one of our gifted wonders on earth. This missive only shows that you are that and more. Friend?

Vanity Fair commented on Wednesday’s show, as did TVSquad.com.  LLS producer Michael Naidus tweeted:  Remind me to stay on Russell Brand’s good side. #geoffisfine

Two websites, Newsbusters.org and MediaIte.com, took note of Craig’s joke Wednesday night with guest Richard Wolffe.

The RSA’s @heldenb noticed the online newspaper HuffingtonPost.com likes Katie Couric‘s harmonica playing skills, including an encore performance in the car ride after the show.

Craig is among the Twitter users who occasionally re-tweet messages about missing people.  The Atlantic talks about the growing use of social media to spread the word quickly.

As the RSA’s @HMSFox reminded us, Craig is emceeing a dinner at the Kodak Theater Ballroom Thursday night for the University of Southern California’s Shoah Foundation benefit dinner, honoring Dreamworks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg.

On Thursday’s Late Late Show, Craig talks with actress Lucy Liu and 1997 Nobel Peace Prize winner Jody Williams.  Craig’s guests on Friday will be actor Neil Patrick Harris and musician Nellie McKay.

Craig is looking forward to Wednesday’s show and guest Russel Brand:  Ah. @rustyrockets is on the show tonight. He’s an adorable cheeky Dickensian scamp/sex-god. Dare I wear my satin pants? #notgaybutkinda He later added:  Oh dear @rustyrockets beat up my robot. And by “beat up my robot” I mean exactly that. #nosubtextwellmaybealittle. #geoffisfine

UPDATE: Russel Brand tweeted about it, too:  Watch me tonight on @craigyferg, I smash up a naughty robot. HUMANS FOREVER! #takethatterminator/tron/matrix Even the Late Late Show’s publicist Katie Barker weighed in:  Tonight I feared for the life of a robot. C how #RussellBrand feels about @GeoffTheRobot on 2nite’s Late Late Show. @grantimahara – he is ok And Brand said more:  @craigyferg your tin henchman Geoff was committing hate crimes against us Homo Sapiens. Some one should RAM his Googles. We can’t wait to see what happened!

The RSA’s General @Malinky2Stoatir, @HMSFox, @bgrhubarb and others spotted that the EpixHD channel, which shot Craig’s stand up comedy special in Nashville in November, has a placeholder web page up with the title “Does This Need To Be Said“.  That line comes from Craig’s stand up routine and may become the title of the special.  We assume the show is being edited now but a release date has not been scheduled.  We have not heard if EpixHD will be broadcasting the special or if it will be licenced to a more commonly available cable channel like Comedy Central, which premiered Craig’s last special, A Wee Bit O’ Revolution.  There is also no DVD release date scheduled yet but last time, the DVD was available just a day or two after the special first aired.  We’ll continue to keep an eye on progress and let you know when release dates are announced.

The RSA’s @HMSFox sent us a link to another nice picture from Nashville, taken by a producer from EpixHD:  another pic from Nashville show for you: http://plixi.com/p/57983677 from @ derekscreens, one of Epix’ producers.

The RSA’s @SariesWick noticed that Craig & Company will be taping two shows on December 10, 16 and 17 as they stockpile segments for future broadcasts… and that means they will need a bunch of email and twitter questions to read on the air.  If you’ve been dying to have Craig read your question, those might be good days to submit them and improve your chances.

New York Magainze couldn’t resist talking about Carrie Fisher‘s unusual gift to Craig on Tuesday’s show.

The Washington Post reports that White House Correspondent’s dinner will feature Saturday Night Live head writer Seth Meyers in 2011.  Craig hosted the fete in 2008.

The animated feature film How To Train Your Dragon has been nominated for 15 Annie Awards… the animation industry’s highest honors.  HTTYD recieved more noms than any other film in 2010, including Best Animated Feature and Writing in a Feature Prouction.  Check out the complete list.  Although Craig is not up for an indiviual award this time, his castmates Jay Baruchel and Gerard Butler are both nominated for Voice Acting in a Feature Production.  The Annie Awards will be presented February 5th at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles.

Bob Saget is keeping up the naughtiness, even in his tweet:  That was really fun last night @CraigyFerg And so was your show. http://youtu.be/jgVYWUjUazI

Late Late Show guest Michael Sheen may have been noticing the Twitter traffic, wondering why he didn’t get a “Team Secretariat” t-shirt.  So he tweeted to Craig:  @CraigyFerg Where’s MY f***** Team Secretariat t-shirt?!?? Craig replied:  @michaelsheen we are waiting on the delivery of the size for the larger penised gent. Nothing we have in stock would fit you. #urwelcome Now there’s a nice compliment for Michael.

A consumer blog is reporting that Audible.com is offering new members 14 days of free service and a credit for the download of one free audiobook. We checked the Audible.com website and didn’t see that specific offer but they do have what amounts to a “half-price” sale on the first three months of a new membership along with one credit for a free audiobook.  Perhaps you might enjoy the Grammy-nominated American On Purpose?

The industry website mediabistro.com‘s TV News blog talks about Katie Couric‘s appearance on the Late Late Show.

Surprise, surprise… Bob Saget appeared on Monday’s show to dance with Craig.  Tuesday on the Late Late Show, Craig welcomes actress Carrie Fisher and author Dennis Lehane.  Wednesday, it’s actor Russel Brand and journalist Richard Wolffe.

It’s been a little quiet in the hollowed out volcano for a couple days as the Robot Skeleton Army recovers from a busy and exciting week.  Craig has wrapped up his stand up comedy tour and is kicking off a week of fresh, new episodes of the Late Late Show.

Here’s a nicely edited-down version of some comments Craig made backstage last week after getting word of is Grammy nomination for the audiobook version of his autobiography.

The week’s revised guest list has most of the same names we told you about yesterday but they shuffled the deck a little bit.  Here’s the new plan:  Monday on the Late Late Show, Craig welcomes CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric and comedian Al Madrigal.  On Tuesday, we’re now expecting to see actress Carrie Fisher and author Dennis Lehane.

On Wednesday, watch for actor Russel Brand and journalist Richard Wolffe.  Then on Thursday, Craig welcomes actress Lucy Liu and 1997 Nobel Peace Prize winner Jody Williams.  Friday is the one day that stayed the same:  Craig’s guests will be actor Neil Patrick Harris and musician Nellie McKay.

Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers have disappeared from the lineup and the taping schedule.  Wee’ll let you know if or when they are rescheduled.

Craig Ferguson may be the hardest working man in show business, even when he jokingly denies actually being in show business. As if a nightly, nationally televised talk/variety show isn’t enough, since taking over the Late Late Show in 2005, he has completed a novel and an autobiography, hosted several awards shows, been nominated for an Emmy and a Grammy, won a Peabody Award, performs at corporate events, does countless interviews for national and local television stations, entertainment shows, radio stations, magazines and newspapers, performs stand up comedy shows at venues around the country, is about to produce his second comedy special, is an executive producer for a new sitcom being considered by CBS, started his own production company, works for charitable causes, was the featured speaker at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, has hosted the Independence Day celebration in Boston four times, became an American citizen, got married and is having a second child.  And surely there are many more things he is doing behind the scenes without fanfare.  The talent, energy and dedidation to do it all gives us all something to admire and to which we can aspire.

Craig’s opening act, writer/comedian/tour photographer Randy Kagan sent a great tweet out to the RSA:  Fame Adjacent Tour 2010 has come to an end. Thx to all RSA and civilians for your kindness. Stay tuned for entire new show in 2011. We’re all looking forward to it!

Scottish newspaper The Herald notes Craig’s Grammy nomination, along with that of Susan Boyle.

LLS producer Michael Naidus visited Canada over the weekend and watched some hockey:  Today’s lesson: when in Montreal, you are a Candiens fan. Go Habs Go!

LLS assistant producer Andrea Wayland enjoyed the movie theater on Sunday evening:  Geeking out about TRON: Legacy tonight.

Geoff Petersen has tonight’s weather report and some reassurance:  Rain coming to LA. @CraigyFerg studio leaks but bones don’t rust.

It’s another week of all-new episodes of the Late Late Show.  First up on Monday are actress Lucy Liu and  journalist Richard Wolffe.  On Tuesday, Craig welcomes CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric and author Dennis Lehane, recorded last month.  On Wednesday, it’s the always entertaining actor Russel Brand, comedian Al Madrigal and the music of Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers.  On Thursday, Craig laughs with actress Carrie Fisher and meets 1997 Nobel Peace Prize Winner Jody Williams.  And on Friday, Craig;’s guests are actor Neil Patrick Harris and musican Nellie McKay, who was rescheduled from last week.

Among the guests being taped this week but not yet schedued to appear are comedian Matt Kirshen, talk show host Dick Cavett, actress Kristin Davis, actress Jane Fonda and Mythbusters Grant Imahara. We’ll keep an eye on them to see when they are scheduled.

Craig wrapped up his final live stand up comedy performance of the year Friday night in Indio, CA and headed back to Los Angeles for the weekend. We’re keeping an eye out for what Craig’s live schedule will look like for 2011 and we’ll pass it along as dates are added. If you atteneded Friday’s show, please send us your still pictures and stories. We’d like to share them with the rest of the RSA. Just tweet us @RSA_News.

A few years ago when Craig was in the midst of an east coast tour, the Associated Press caught up with him for an extended interview.

In 2008 when Craig did a show in Georgia, the Athens Banner-Herald newspaper interviewed him just as he was getting started writing his autobiography.

The RSA’s @ElevationGrace sent us a note the other day when she was watching Craig’s appearance on The Daily Show in the spring of 2005, just after he took the job at the Late Late Show. We thought you’d enjoy it, too.

Saturday, December 4 is Wear Brown Shoes Day, National Cookie Day and Santa’s List Day.  Hope you’ve been nice!  Sunday, December 5th is Walt Disney’s Birthday, Bathtub Party Day (a reference to bathtub gin because Prohibition was repealed on December 5th, 1933) and International Ninja Day.  We’d tell you more but you’d never even know we were there.

Thank you to all of our contributors for making this week a great one at RSA News.  When Craig is on a roll, his fans are excited and energized, which makes everything more fun.

The RSA’s @WeezieWeaver noticed that someone over at Gawker.com posted a graphic that resembles the TeamCoco poster, but features Craig.  We’re not sure the nickname will stick since Tom Hanks didn’t come up with it.

The RSA’s @AnnieSunshine84 spotted an interview of Craig by Access Hollywood:

The RSA’s @Colleen_Byrne sent us a note about December’s charity for the RSA Store:

I usually choose charities that are endorsed by Craig since he’s the whole reason that the Robot Skeleton Army and this shop exists. But for the month of December, I’d like us to contribute to a charity that I know is important to me and several others in our diverse group.

December’s charity is the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Several RSA members, myself included, are affected by this disease, which attacks the brain and central nervous system. Those of you who have met me have seen how it affects me physically but it affects everyone differently. The one common thread is that it slowly takes away abilities, either physical or mental.

The Society helps people affected by MS by funding research and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. Your purchase from the RSA shop in the month of December will help to make these things happen and earn my heartfelt gratitude.

Thanks and happy holidays, everyone!

It sounds like plenty of Craig Ferguson, Late Late Show and Robot Skeleton Army for everyone for the holidays!

Josh Robert Thompson, the voice of Geoff Petersen, has been working on a project in London.  Today he sent a picture:  Recording at Grand Central Sound Studios in London. http://twitpic.com/3cj46l

Geoff is wondering about Kristen Bell:  Just wondering. Does Kristen Bell hate me-hate me or is this 1 of those Sam & Diane are you as turned on as I am things? Only Sam had skin. He then thought:  I pretty much see @IMKristenBell as brainy, fetchingly alluring, Diane Chambers to my dashing, n’er do well Sam Malone. CBS, I got a sitcom! He added:  Perhaps if I squeezed @IMKristenBell with my bedroom blue eyes. Or let her ride the horsie. And by “ride the horsie” I mean… just that. Good luck, Geoff.

On Friday’s Late Late Show, Craig welcomes one of his favorite guests, the funny and charming Kristen Bell, along with musician Michael Franti, held over from Monday.  The previously scheduled actor Ewan McGregor and actress Shannon Woodward will be moved ahead to another date.
