Craig Ferguson was among the attendees at an awards ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Friday night. The “Living Legends of Aviation” event honors people of remarkable accomplishment in aviation including: entrepreneurs, innovators, industry leaders, record breakers, astronauts, pilots who have become celebrities and celebrities who have become pilots (remind you of anyone?). The Legends meet yearly to recognize and honor individuals that have made significant contributions in aviation. This year’s honoree was M. Laurent Beaudoin, Chairman of the Board of the Canadian aircraft maker Bombardier and the award was presented by celebrity and pilot John Travolta.

When Craig hits Denver for seven stand up comedy performances in March, he’ll have some appreciative crowds.  Checking the website, the RSA’s @bgrhubarb and @Colleen_Byrne noticed that six of the seven shows at the Comedy Works are sold out but a few tickets remain for the 10:30pm performance on Thursday, March 17.  Get ’em while you can!  Craig will also be performing at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma near the Texas border on Saturday, February 5th.  Tickets still remain for that show.

The voice of Geoff Petersen, Josh Robert Thompson tweeted:  Schizo fun this week! Recorded new voices for “American Dad” crew & uploaded fresh vocal data into @geofftherobot‘s pants. Balls. #rsa

Saturday, January 22nd is Saint Vincent’s Feast Day and Answer Your Cat’s Question Day.  If the question is “Meow?” the answer is clearly, “Meow”.  Sunday, January 23rd is National Pie Die (we’ll have a few slices of caramel apple, please) and National Handwriting Day.

If you’re under age 25, “handwriting” was once taught as a subject in school and people with beautiful “penmanship” were admired for their skill.  People often wrote handwritten “letters” (sort of papery blogs or emails) and sent them to each other in envelopes via a government institution known as the Postal Service and paid for their delivery with little lickable stickers known as “stamps”.  It would often take two to three days to receive a letter from your letter carrier but you were rewarded by being able to hold it in your hand and read the words actually written down by hand by a friend or favorite relative, perhaps with a “pen” or “pencil”.  It seems so long ago.

On Thursday’s Late Late Show, guest Mario Bello mentioned the group she works with in Haiti, Artists for Peace and Justice, which has been doing good in the island nation both before and after last year’s devastating earthquake.  Take a look at their website to learn more about what they do and how you can help.

On the cutting edge of breaking news (if it happens to be 2005), The Hollywood Reporter asks whether internet videos affect late night television show ratings.

Scotland’s Evening Times newspaper has the latest on Cumbernauld House, the historic building in Craig’s hometown.  The latest row was over whether the group trying to save the building from development could keep the name they have been using for years.

It’s been a little quiet on the tweety box lately.  Not too many LLS folks are saying much and the usually chatty Geoff Petersen has been silent for two weeks.

In case you missed it, Jeff Bridges was the subject of an episode of the PBS documentary series American Masters just last week. Here is the promo for that show:

You can see the complete episode on the PBS website.

Friday on the Late Late Show, Craig’s guest is actor Jeff Bridges.  LLS assistant producer Andrea Wayland tweeted:  Ah Friday. It’s lovely to see you. Everyone enjoy tonight’s episode of The Late Late Show featuring the one and only Jeff Bridges! So Rad. We agree, Andrea.  The Dude Abides.

New York Magazine saw late night entertainment everywhere it looked on Wednesday night, including Craig‘s take on Simon Cowell no longer on American Idol.

So what was up with Larry King‘s blue hand on the LLS?  Larry’s wife Shawn explained in a pair of tweets:  @kingsthings just told me he liked leaning on @CraigyFerg‘s desk. I think it’s because that angle hid his mysterious blue hand. // @kingsthings hand was blue on @CraigyFerg‘s show 2nite because he likes putting it in the pocket of his new dark blue jeans.:) Retired life seems to be treating Larry well.

In 2009, the Windsor, Ontario Star newspaper had an article about Craig who was touring to promote his autobiography, American On Purpose. He talked about his boss, David Letterman.

If you missed Tuesday’s Late Late Show, we hope you’ll take some time to find it on the Googly-web FaceTube thingy and watch.  Judging by the Twitter chatter over the past 24 hours, many agree it was one of the best episodes in recent memory.  And not just because of a great monologue, some patented Craigy crankiness during the tweetmails and Larry King dancing with Secretariat.  It was also the magic that happened when Larry moved to behind the desk and Craig sat in the guest’s chair.  Larry’s natural role as the questioner brought out Craig’s candor in a new way.  His entire demeanor changed when placed in the role of respondent.  His frankness was both refreshing and mesmerizing.  During the show, Craig tweeted:  The adorable @kingsthings Interviewed me on my own show. He probed me gently like the professional he is. // Sorry @shannonwoodward fans. @kingsthings hogged the whole show tonight. She’ll be on soon. #blameLarry. And Larry added:  Had great time on Craig Ferguson’s @CraigyFerg Late Late Show. Tune in tonight & see how I turned the tables on him http://yfrog.com/h5dokxj The result was a great show… one that we hope will attract new fans as word gets around. What we saw Tuesday night is what sets Craig apart from the rest of the late night television hosts… and from lots of other folks, too.  The online newspaper Examiner.com enjoyed Tuesday night’s show as well, giving it extensive coverage.

HeyYouGuys.co.uk gives us a look at the international version of the new Winnie the Pooh poster.  Craig will be the voice of Owl in the film, which opens this summer.

Is there a Burns Night supper in your area this week?  Many Scots at home or abroad celebrate the great poet Robert Burns on or about his birthday of January 25th.  Enjoy some haggis and have a fun evening!

The folks at EPIX, the premium cable channel that will be airing Craig’s new stand up comedy special beginning February 19th, send a tweet Wednesday reminding people that if you don’t subscribe to EpixHD.com, you still can see the show online: Hey @CraigyFerg fans. Not to worry if you don’t have EPIX! As the show gets closer we’ll be offering free trials so check back for updates. We’ll keep you posted as well.

Wednesday on the Late Late Show, Craig welcomes actress Emily Deschanel and comedian Rich Fulcher.  On Thursday, Craig talks with actress Maria Bello and biologist Dan Riskin. Poor Shannon Woodward, who had been scheduled to be on the show Tuesday night, has been bumped from the show at least twice now. We hope to see her soon. She tweeted:  Had a nice chat this eve with @craigyferg about omelettes & water boilers. It will be suspended in time and shown another day.#blamelarry. Craig added:  Sorry @shannonwoodward fans. @kingsthings hogged the whole show tonight. She’ll be on soon. #blameLarry.

Just minutes before Monday’s Late Late Show began, Josh from LA had 117 followers on Twitter.  One question from Craig and he’s already up to 295 followers.  He keeps things in perspective, though:  Tomorrow, I will just be a guy people will be unfollowing. How about a little love for @RSA_News, Craig?  A mention on the show or even simply following us would help a ton.  Just sayin’.

Monday night’s Secretariat gag was brought to you by Captain Kangaroo.  Props if you know that reference without Googling it.

The RSA’s @pmohen gets a thumbs up for a funny tweet:  @CraigyFerg Why is your audience like a tweet? Because they both consist of less then 140 characters

The RSA’s General @Malinky2Stoatir has a Craig-filled blog for your enjoyment:  I am Malinky….this http://remindyouofanyone.blogspot.com/ is my blog. You might wanna poke around & see what Craigness you’ll find. #RSA

In an interview in the Huffington Post, Betty White says Craig is a comedian she can’t resist.  You may want to tune in CBS a bit early Tuesday night, because Betty White is David Letterman’s guest.  You’ll have to sit through Kim and Kourtney Kardashian before Craig comes on, however.

Legendary television host Regis Philbin announced in New York this morning that he will be leaving his daytime show after 28 years, probably at the end of the summer.  Regis has been a frequent guest on the Late Late Show.

Toy Story 3 won the Golden Globe Award for best animated film at  Sunday evening’s ceremony in Los Angeles.  How To Train Your Dragon had been nominated in that category.

Back in 2006, shortly after taking the reins at the Late Late Show, Craig answered 20 Questions for Playboy magazine.  Thanks to the RSA’s @Diane4Mail for reminding us about this great interview.
