For those fans who watch Craig “live” on the Googly-web, Friday night was disappointing. The station used on the east coast feed was running CBS soap operas which had been pre-empted earlier in the day by news coverage of Egypt… and then went straight to paid commercial programs, skipping the Late Late Show altogether. They were for some sort of hair product, not Shamwows. Fortunately, the RSA’s General @Malinky2Stoatir comes to the rescue, making the episode available on the FaceTube. Thanks, Mal!
Back in 2009 when Craig was promoting his autobiography, he did many newspaper interviews including one for the Scottish newspaper The Herald, where he recalled the time his life turned around.
In 2005, Craig celebrated his 100th show by talking about earthquakes.

Feeling revolutionary? Saturday, January 29th is Thomas Paine Day. Not feeling revolutionary? It’s also Curmudgeons Day. Sunday, January 30th is the birthday of the 32nd US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Inane Answering Machine Day. When you call ours it says, “Hi. This is a machine. You know what to do.” BEEEEEEEEP.
New live performance date: Craig Ferguson will be performing live at Caesar’s Windsor, in Ontario (just across the bridge from Detroit) on April 23rd. Tickets go on sale at noon on February 5th.
New York Magazine was impressed by Craig and Adam Goldberg‘s attempt at conducting a “real” TV talk show interview Thursday night. The interview was funny but had an odd moment punctuated by a commercial break where Adam described a recent home invasion. The website Adam set up to find the identity of his 3am kitchen visitor is up and running here. Thanks to the resourceful @bgrhubarb for the link.
On February 1st, Craig will host a special Late Late Show in honor of Black History Month. Craig’s guests will be professor, philosopher and author Dr. Cornel West and legendary funk musician George Clinton, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. CBS offers this preview to whet your appetite.
Our friends at CBS tell us that during the opening of the advance taping, Craig said, “Dr. Cornel West wrote and I quote, ‘Black people have never had the luxury to believe in the innocence of America . Although we have experienced the worst of America , we still believe that the best of America can emerge. Now, how can I as an American, not want the best of America to emerge?’†He continued, “What we will have tonight, I hope, is an honest discussion with an eminent and respected black American; an academic, a very clever gentleman, maybe the smartest person we have ever booked. Which, I have to say, intimidates me a little bit.†Following the interview segments with Dr. West, George Clinton will perform “One Nation Under A Groove†and then will join Dr. West and Craig for the close of the show. Don’t miss it!
CBS’s Late Late Show publicist Katie Barker has been doing double-takes:Â Wow I have gotten so used to The Late Late Show’s Secretariat that I pictured our horse when I saw a “new on DVD” article inc the film. Pony power.
Friday’s Late Late Show features actress Helena Bonham Carter and a performance by longtime country music band Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers.
Craig and Company will be out of the Late Late Show studio at CBS Television City January 31st-February 4th, but thanks to the magic of television, we’ll see all-new episodes next week. We’ll post the updated guest list as usual in our Monday (or late Sunday night “in your region”) post.
We’re just a couple dozen days away from the premiere of Craig Ferguson‘s new stand up comedy special, Does This Need To Be Said, which debuts on the EPIX premium cable channel and EpixHD.com at 8pm Eastern Time on February 19th. Those who don’t have EPIX on their cable system can become members of EpixHD.com for a fee or take advantage of a free 14-day trial offer. We’re told that new previews are being edited and should be posted soon and additional tour dates for 2011 are in the works. We’ll keep you posted.
Does it get any better than Craig and Betty? They’re hard to top.

Geoff Petersen hasn’t tweeted in three weeks. Balls.
On Thursday’s Late Late Show, Craig talks with actor Adam Goldberg and at last, the oft-bumped actress Shannon Woodward. Sexuality therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer will be rescheduled. Then on Friday, Craig interviews actress Helena Bonham Carter, and we’ll see a performance by Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers.
Craig’s able assistant, Rebecca Tucker tweeted some good news on Wednesday: Stay tuned – new Craig standup dates coming soon! We will! Craig already has eight shows booked so far for the 2011 tour, including a one-night stop at the WinStar World Casino at Thackerville, Oklahoma on February 5th (tickets are still available) and seven… count ’em… seven shows at the Comedy Works in Denver, March 16-19 (tickets remain only for the 10:30pm performance on March 17). As new dates are announced, we’ll post them here.

UPDATED DVR Alert: Tuesday’s Late Late Show will be delayed approximately ten minutes “in your region” due to CBS coverage of the President’s State of the Union Address and the Republican response. Speech coverage ended at about 10:40pm Eastern Time and CBS is running some entertainment programming before turning things over to local stations for news. Since the response and analysis ran about ten minutes longer than planned, programming will “slide” accordingly. In other words, everything else will be ten minutes late tonight. Here are the schedules we have seen:
Eastern: 10:40 TBBT, 11:10 local news, 11:45 David Letterman and 12:47 Craig.
Central:Â 9:40 TBBT, 10:10 local news, 10:45 David Letterman and 11:47 Craig.
Mountain:Â 8:40 TBBT, 9:10 NCIS, 10:10 local news, 10:45 David Letterman and 11:47 Craig.
Pacific:Â 7:40 local programming, 8:10 NCIS, 9:10 TBBT, 9:40 Bleep My Dad Says and 10:10 more local programming (including your local news) followed by 11:45 David Letterman and 12:47 Craig.
As we reported Tuesday morning shortly after the announcement, How To Train Your Dragon has been nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature Film of the Year and Achievement in music written for motion pictures (Original score). Congratulations to the team who made a great film and are working on the next one to be released in 2012!
Craig’s traveling partner, warm up act and fellow LLS writer Randy Kagan made an interesting point on Twitter today, given the ubiquity of electronic means of looking up telephone numbers: Stop putting a phone book at my door. It could only be useful if they write “WELCOME” on the cover. Outdated waste of paper! When was the last time you used a phone book? Let us know in the comments below.
The RSA’s @bgrhubarb found a brief interview of Craig at last Friday’s Legends of Aviation Awards event, posted on a website called kimzhollywoodlist.com, which is dedicated to only positive celebrity news.

A very busy @nerdist, Chris Hardwick tweeted Tuesday: Today will go down on Hardwickipedia as a “Fun Day”. Doing @chelsealately, then LLS w/ @CraigyFerg & finally @comedydeathray! #LeTitsNow He also posted the card Craig wrote to him. Thanks to @bgrhubarb for letting us know.
Tuesday on the Late Late Show, things get started in the opening segment with Swedish TV personalities and comedy team “Erik and Mackan”, Erik Ekstrand & Mackan Edlund. Then Craig talks with actress Jennifer Love Hewitt and actor Jon Lovitz, plus an appearance by Chris Hardwick. Then on Wednesday, the one and only Betty White is back, along with actress Ellie Kemper.
Happy Burns Night to Scots and friends everywhere!
UPDATE:How To Train Your Dragon has been nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature Film of the Year and Achievement in music written for motion pictures (Original score).
Craig sent along a picture from the Living Legends of Aviation Awards ceremony he attended on Friday night: http://yfrog.com/h3sscxj With my new BFF last Friday. I let him operate the elevator. Craig’s new BFF is of course Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the heroic pilot of the U.S. Airways flight that made an emergency landing in the Hudson River two years ago, saving all of the passengers and crew on board. We reported on the awards ceremony in our Sunday post.
This just in: Political pundit and commentator Keith Olbermann tweeted Monday evening: A little birdie (or possibly a robot skeleton) advises all #FOK to watch @CraigyFerg tonight (that’s always true, but especially tonight) #FOK means “Friends of Keith”. Olbermann hosted a prime time political show on cable outlet MSNBC until Friday, when he announced he was doing his last show.
Television critic David Bianculli pays Craig a high compliment in a broader Associated Press story about television hosts.
At the very end of a short article about one of Monday’s guests, the Montreal Gazette says a nice thing about Craig.
The RSA’s @bgrhubarb spotted an article that suggests Craig might appear with French talk show host and comedian Jaques “Arthur” Essbag at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal in July. From the translation, it’s unclear whether he means that Craig would be there in person or on videotape. We’ve not heard anything about this from any other sources and still have heard no word if Craig might be a guest on Aurthr’s show in France sometime… but we’ll keep an eye on the story.
The resourceful @bgrhubarb also retweeted a Twitter user called @Sawyer666, who tweeted to Craig: Hey @CraigyFerg,@menshealthmag named you one of the reasons why Im not losing weight http://tinyurl.com/2edw695 How do you feel about this We had to read it twice to understand what the author was doing. There are separate pages for different reasons why you might gain weight. Instead of using a generic headline like “Staying Up Late”, the writer used “Craig Ferguson” as shorthand. Amusingly, the URL link to that page ends with Craig Kilborn instead of Ferguson.
Did you check on the video on Monday‘s post from Craig’s first show as permanent host of the LLS?
Late Late Show production assistant Bridger Winegar tweeted:Â On tonight’s Late Late Show with @CraigyFerg, find out what I get for having my heart in the wrong place.
Monday on the Late Late Show, Craig talks with actress Valerie Bertinelli, and Los Angeles Lakers star Pau Gasol. Bertinelli tweeted earlier:Â Just finished having fun with @CraigyFerg! Watch tonight! On Tuesday, Craig welcomes actress Jennifer Love Hewitt and actor Jon Lovitz.
Episodes of the Late Late Show will continue to be new leading up to the February ratings period. There are no studio tapings scheduled the week of January 31-February 4, ahead of Craig‘s stand up performance in Thackerville, Oklahoma on the 5th, but plenty of new guest segments are being recorded and put “in the can” to be saved for that week and avoid the re-run fairy.
The Comedy Works in Denver, where Craig will perform in March, has been around for 25 years, bringing stand up performers from around the world to the mountain west.
Back in May of 2008, Michael Naidus was promoted to producer of the Late Late Show, as reported in the Hollywood trade paper Variety.
When Craig took over the Late Late Show in 2005, he did it with a style befitting his heritage… well, his heritage according to the movies anyway.

Dr. Ruth Westheimer
It’s another week of all-new episodes of the Late Late Show, beginning Monday with actress Valerie Bertinelli and professional basketball player Pau Gasol. On Tuesday, one of Craig’s favorites is back in the studio, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, along with actor Jon Lovitz. We’re also been told to watch for the opening segment on Tuesday, which will feature the Swedish TV personalities and comedy team known as “Erik and Mackan”, Erik Ekstrand & Mackan Edlund. On Wednesday, Craig welcomes back actress Betty White and actress Ellie Kemper. Actor Adam Goldberg and therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer are in the guest chair on Thursday. And on Friday, watch for actress Helena Bonham Carter and a performance by Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers.
