The excitement is building for Craig’s stand up comedy special Does This Need To Be Said, which airs at 8pm ET Saturday night.  Of course, as a website that focuses on all things Craig Ferguson-related, we’ve been talking about it for months.  Now that the day is upon us, lots of other people are talking about it, including TVSquad.com in the most extensive interview they’ve done with Craig to date.

Take a look at this in-depth interview by Mike Ryan for Movieline.com, in which Craig talks about his show, fans, criticism, censorship and much more.  NBC Miami is also recommending the show.  The Tampa Bay radio station that interviewed Craig on Thursday has now posted the interview online.  We have links to radio interviews in Tampa Bay and Cleveland in our previous post.  Thanks again to @Colleen_Byrne for tracking down the links.

All this week, we’ve been showing on stage and behind the scenes clips from Craig’s new stand up special.  Our friends at EpixHD.com sent another new bonus clip today, where Craig tells us how Scots talk about sex.  And here, Craig talks about upper class accents.

The special will debut at 8pm ET on Saturday and be available online on demand after that.  We have details our Epix Stand Up Special page.

The @nerdist Chris Hardwick posted a picture of an impromptu meeting of late night mugs on his desk.

Friday on the Late Late Show, Craig reads tweetmails with actor DJ Qualls and interviews actress/comedienne Lily Tomlin.

Live Chat on Saturday Night

We’ll open the live chat room here on the site at 7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT on Saturday (one half hour before the show) and remain open for skellies to chat during and after the debut of Does This Need To Be Said.  Just watch for the Live Chat Room button on the menu bar near the top of the page.  When the link is visible, the chat room is open.  See you on Saturday night!

UPDATED: One interview we did hear about in advance thanks to the RSA’s @bgrhubarb:  Craig was interviewed by Mike Ryan for Movieline.com, which has now posted the in-depth discussion.

Craig Ferguson was interviewed on some radio shows Thursday afternoon:

  • One was on Miami’s 790theticket.com.  Look about halfway down their show page below the 1-800 number ad and click on the Craig Ferguson link at or near the top of the list.   The interview and the hosts’ reaction afterward runs about 12 minutes.
  • Another was on Tampa’s Cowhead Show.  The interview was shown on cowheadtv.com which had a video stream of the radio show.  They say they hope to post an audio podcast of the interview sometime this weekend.  We’ll pass along the link when it’s up and running.
  • And yet another was in Cleveland, item six on the list.  Thanks to @roverflash for that link.

Thanks to @colleen_byrne for the heads up on the shows and for tracking down the links!  Our apologies if the word about today’s interviews reached you too late.  Craig’s people don’t let us know that these interviews are happening (nor should they… who has that kind of time?).  We just try to post details as soon as we hear about them and links to any recordings afterward.  Craig does dozens and dozens of these interviews with radio, television and newspapers ahead of any stand up appearance or show that he’s promoting.  They’re just part of the job behind the scenes that most people never see.  If you hear about an interview happening “in your region”, by all means, tweet us a link.  We’re happy to post them.

Craig got a nice baby gift from his late-night competitor Jimmy Fallon:  http://yfrog.com/h3iwjyj Thanks @jimmyfallon for this lovely gift. You know what he’ll do in it though. He’ll have to save that for special occasions.

A local talk show host is profiled in the Washington CityPaper newspaper article, in which he says that Craig has been an important influence.

BBC America enjoyed Wednesday night’s Doctor Who conversation between Craig and the @nerdist Chris Hardwick.

All this week, we’ve been showing on stage and behind the scenes clips from Craig’s new stand up special.  Our friends at EpixHD.com sent another new bonus clip today, where Craig talks about his heavy metal rock back experience.  And here, Craig talks about going on stage:

Live Chat on Saturday Night

Radio interviews:  Craig Ferguson was interviewed on two radio shows Thursday afternoon:

  • The first was is at 4pm ET on Miami’s 790theticket.com.  They have promised to post the interview.  We’ll link to it here when it becomes available.
  • The second was at 4:30pm ET on Tampa’s Cowhead Show.  The interview was shown on cowheadtv.com which had a video stream of the radio show.  Not sure if they will be posting an archive version.

Thanks @colleen_byrne for the heads up on both shows!

The folks at EpixHD are tweeting:  Ok Skellies! 5 days and @CraigyFerg comes to EPIX. Lookout for some trivia about the man himself, and see if you’re a TRUE fan. The final remaining original cast member of How To Train Your Dragon who hadn’t yet agreed to return for the sequel has signed on. Several media outlets including ScreenCrave.com are reporting that Gerard Butler will join the rest of the cast, including Craig, for the new film. As we’ve reported here, part 2 is due out in late 2012 or early 2013 and the director has said plans are coming together for a third part to be made later.

Monday on the Late Late Show, Craig’s first guest will be retired The Price Is Right host Bob Barker, who is the subject of rumors by several wrestling bloggers, that he might be the host of WrestleMania 27.  We may find out tonight.  Craig will also chat with actress Melissa Rauch from The Big Bang Theory .  There’s no word on her relationship to the world of professional wrestling.  Then on Tuesday, Craig welcomes actor William Shatner and actress Gillian Jacobs.  We hope everyone had a good Valentine’s Day!

Craig Ferguson is back in Los Angeles after kicking off his 2011 tour in Thackerville, Oklahoma on Saturday night.  We saw lots of tweets from people in the audience and even a few who met Craig before the show.  The next stop on the tour is Denver, Colorado for eight shows at the Comedy Works.  A few tickets remain for the 10:30pm performance on March 16th.  We update our Live Comedy Tour page with the latest information available.

The Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album was awarded Sunday evening to Jon Stewart for The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Presents Earth (The Audiobook).  Craig was among the nominees in the category for the audio version of his autobiography American On Purpose.  Across the pond, Toy Story 3 won the BAFTA award for Best Animated film.  How To Train Your Dragon had been nominated in that category.

We’re not sure when this one ends, but there’s a another poll out there for favorite late night talk show host (on the lower right side of the page) and thanks to the RSA’s @alliemjonze, @love_loud_music, @SexyCraigFerg and others, Craig is in the lead.

Craig is up for a Grammy Award on Sunday in the spoken word category for the audio version of his autobiography American On Purpose but said in an interview with Conan O’Brien that he doesn’t plan to attend the ceremony.  NCIS actress Pauley Perrette is behind the scenes at the Grammys, however and you can see what she’s up to on the CBS website.

Talk show host Dick Cavett is hosting a series of conversations with Hollywood Legends at Harrah’s Valley Center near San Diego. In an interview in the North County Times newspaper about his upcoming events, he named Craig among the best TV interviewers today.  We agree.

Saturday, February 12th is the birthday of Charles Darwin, Abraham Lincoln and the NAACP.  Sunday February, 13th is Get A Different Name Day and Madly in Love With Me Day… a nice thought on the eve of Saint Valentine’s Day on Monday.

Note:  Most of the updates to the appearance of our website are done for now… just a couple more are still planned in the next week or two.  Meanwhile, we are continuing to work behind the scenes to tighten things up.  We’ve updated all of the photos in our posts and repaired some broken links.  We’re also switching over to word-based URL’s for our posts instead of numbered links.  We’re gradually fixing all of those as well, so pardon our dust. Thanks to everyone who contributes story ideas, links and tips to the site.  You make it better every day!
