Tonight’s Guests
UPDATED:  Thursday’s guests are as advertised:  Actress Sigourney Weaver and the long-ago taped comedian Ted Alexandro.  Friday’s lone guest will be James Woods.  Kunal Nayyar and Anthony Head will be moved ahead to future dates.  Kathryn Hahn and Chris Young have been moved into next week’s schedule.  For the latest, see our Guests page.

Guest Fandango
Monday’s overrun of US Open tennis coverage on CBS started a bit of a scheduling dance for the Late Late Show, with producers moving guests around and trying to find a place for everyone to fit.  So far, it has resulted in a re-run on Monday and Monday’s planned guests (or rather, just one guest… more on that later) being moved to Tuesday.  We’re being told that the guests for Wednesday and Thursday should remain as originally advertised.  We’ve listed them below.  Meanwhile, James Woods (who was originally scheduled for Tuesday) could be placed in Friday’s show.  There’s no word so far on where Tuesday’s other guest, Kathryn Hahn or Friday’s other scheduled guests might go.

For the producers, it’s not just the time within each show that matters.  It’s also the timing of the guests’ appearances, most of whom are on the show to promote projects.  For instance, Lauren Graham‘s appearance was intended for Monday night, to encourage people to watch her show Parenthood on Tuesday evening.  Being moved still gave her a chance to promote the show, but after the fact.  Also missing in action is country singer Chris Young, who was to be on Monday’s show.  When most of Monday’s show, including the monologue and tweetmails moved to Tuesday, Young wasn’t included; bumped for time because of a longer interview with Lauren Graham and what appeared to be an impromptu performance by an aspiring singer named Marine Molé, who goes by the nickname “Rookie“.  What we know of her story is that she is from France and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career.  An appearance on the Late Late Show can’t hurt her chances.

The bottom line:  Wednesday’s and Thursday’s guests should appear as scheduled.  Friday could still change.  And we’ll of course let you know where the rest of the displaced guests end up.  We always have the most up-to-date and confirmed listings on our Guests page.  Craig tweeted about Wednesday’s show:

Tonight’s show blew my freakin mind. Moulin Rouge dancers- sexy. Olivia Munn- sexier Danny DeVito – sexiest. #lovemyjob

Detroit Football
The Detroit Free Press newspaper took note of Craig Ferguson and Tim Meadows talking football on Tuesday night’s show.

Late Night Praise
The student newspaper at Western Illinois University in Macomb, The Western Courier has an article about why students should be watching late night television and says nice things about Craig.

Henry Winkler, For Real!
The beloved actor, children’s book author and frequent Late Late Show guest Henry Winkler has been named an honorary member of the Order of the British Empire.  The award was presented on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by the UK’s Ambassador to the US Nigel Sheinwald at an Embassy ceremony in Washington, DC on Wednesday.  Winkler was honored in particular for his tireless work bringing awareness to the problem of dyslexia in the UK, a condition with which he was diagnosed as an adult.  He tweeted:

Here I am with my O BE pinned on Very honored very proud Daniel silva and Jamie Gangel were with me http://yfrog.com/hsemoqoj

Congratulations, Henry, on being recognized for all of your hard work and dedication to helping children.  The BBC reported on the award.  If you live in the Missouri area, you might want to see Winkler as the guest speaker at an event in Springfield later this month, according to OzarksFirst.com.

Neil Gaiman on the Simpsons

Schedule Change:  The episode originally scheduled for Monday night featuring actress Lauren Graham and country singer Chris Young will air Tuesday night.  The previously scheduled Tuesday show with James Woods and Kathryn Hahn will move ahead to a future date.  We post the very latest updates on our Guests page as we hear about them, so keep checking back there.  Some new guests have been added the future schedule.   Details are below!

Hollywood Changes
Craig’s partner of five years in his production company, Tracey Pakosta has taken a new job in charge of comedy at the newly-reformed Universal Television, under the Comcast/NBC/Universal umbrella.  Reports on the story appeared in Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and the Los Angeles Times.

More on Late Night
Writer Jamie Weinman at Macleans spotted the same two sentences we did in Bill Carter‘s Friday New York Times article about late night television and takes the story’s prognostications a bit further.

Updated Guest List

For the Fallen
Craig Ferguson expressed the thoughts on many on the anniversary of 9/11, by tweeting a portion of a poem:

For The Fallen “Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn, At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them” LB

The “LB” to whom he refers is English poet Laurence Binyon and the quote is from his most work, Ode of Remembrance, which lives on in Remembrance Day services in many Commonwealth countries.

Inspired by Craig
A television reviewer for the website ology.com says he had never watched an episode on Doctor Who until he saw Craig’s famous “lost open” and its Who-themed dance number.  In his current review, which contains many huge spoilers (so don’t follow the link if you haven’t seen it or want to be surprised), says the show’s most recent episode encapsulates Craig’s description of the show; “Intellect and romance triumph over brute force and cynicism.”  It’s good to know that Craig is inspiring new legions of Whovians but also that his observation remains true.

Craig’s Thoughts
This year’s anniversary of September 11th happened to fall on a Sunday when no Late Late Show was scheduled.  The same happened in 2005, which meant Craig’s first Late Late Show to coincide with the day happened in 2006.  His story of what happened around him is still poignant and touching today:

This Week’s Guests
It’s another week of all-new episodes of the Late Late Show, beginning Monday with actress Lauren Graham and country singer Chris Young.  On Tuesday, Craig talks with actor James Woods and actress Kathryn Hahn.  Wednesday, Craig will welcome a group of dancers from Paris’ iconic Moulin Rouge club into the studio at CBS Television City and chat with actor Danny DeVito.  Actress Sigourney Weaver is the lone guest listed for Thursday.  And on Friday, watch for actor Kunal Nayyar and actor Anthony Head.

Nerdist Interviews Craig

The pilot of the television version of @Nerdist Chris Hardwick‘s Nerdist Podcast will appear on BBC America on September 24th.  BBC America tells us what we can expect on the show, including an interview with Craig Ferguson.

White Powder Call
The Hollywood website TMZ.com has obtained a copy of the 911 call made by a security guard at CBS Television city the day an intern opened a letter containing a white powder.  No one was injured and the powder turned out to be cornmeal.  The FBI believes the letter was mailed from France and an investigation continues.

Improvisation with Styles
Kingston, Ontario’s Whig Standard Newspaper has a detailed interview with Ryan Styles, who worked alongside Craig on The Drew Carey Show.

It’s a Girl
Favorite Late Late Show guest Mary McCormack was well along in her pregnancy during her most recent visit to the show at the end of July.  On Saturday, she tweeted:

It’s a girl! // She’s not named yet.

Congratulations, Mary!

Don’t forget, you can still vote for Craig in the National Lampoon Twitter Awards, in the Best Talk Show Host category.  Winners will be announced on September 20th.

Holidays This Weekend
