Craig Ferguson Trading Card Image Released!
As part of the second edition of his Geek-A-Week series of trading cards, artist Len Peralta has just released the first look at the Craig Ferguson card.  It portrays Craig in the style of the eleventh Doctor Who Matt Smith, holding a sonic screwdriver, with Karen Gillan‘s character of Amy Pond in the background.  Why Smith and Gillan?  Take a listen to Peralta’s podcast, where he interviews Craig and the story behind the card unfolds.  You can also check out the Geek-A-Week site to get a close up look at the front of the card with the image of Craig and the card back, which features a mini-biography written by Washington DC-area comedians Paul and Storm.

So you might be asking, how do I get the Craig Ferguson trading card?  You can pre-order the 15-card set that includes Craig’s card (the card is not available separately) by going to Peralta’s page on kickstarter.com which includes a range of donation options.  For a minimum donation of ten dollars, you can reserve a set of cards and will receive the full pack when they are printed (Peralta tells us he hopes the printing will happen in November).  Or you can take a look at some of the other donation options, which come with some nice benefits, such as autographs, a bonus card and more.  The ThinkGeek.com site also has the first two (of four) portions of Peralta’s original set of 52 Geek-A-Week trading cards.  As more donations come in, he’ll be able to print the second half of the original set, which features geeks like Grant Imahara, Adam Savage, Chris Hardwick and more. And the RSA’s @Colleen_Byrne reminds us that the Geek-A-Week podcasts are available not only through their website but on iTunes.

Craig Among Top Whovians

Wilford Brimley on the LLS?
Craig told his Monday night audience that after more than a week of Wilford Brimley impressions and jokes, the LLS is booking the 76 year-old to appear on the show.  It appears that Brimley may be in the studio on Monday the 26th. An air date for his interview has not been announced, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for the actor turned oat cereal and medical product pitchman in the coming days.

Craig in Playboy
Craig mentioned on Monday’s show that he is being interviewed for the December issue of Playboy magazine, which should be on newsstands by mid-November.  Craig joked that he thought it might be a nude interview but it wasn’t… sorry, skellies.  (You too, ladies).

Craig on Sesame Street

The season premiere of Sesame Street is coming up on Monday, September 26th and among the new guests to pay a visit to public broadcasting’s most favorite avenue will be Craig Ferguson. We’re not sure on exactly which date(s) Craig will appear or whether he taped a single segment or more. We do know that the producers of the show, the Children’s Television Workshop have posted a clip with Craig.  Thanks to the RSA’s @bbrom00 for the heads up.

If you want to be surprised when it airs for the first time on television, don’t click on the arrow below. If you do, enjoy Craig spending some time with Elmo and some chickens:

@duranduran just finished soundcheck for “Leave A Light On” on Late Late Show (Craig Ferguson). Air date – TBA!

Coquette Productions Is Optimistic
In a story on Monday’s USA Today, Courtney Cox was interviewed along with her estranged husband, David Arquette about his upcoming run on Dancing With The Stars.  In the article, Cox mentioned that the production company she and Arquette still own and run together is hoping CBS picks up their new game show (to be called either Celebrity Name Game or Identity Crisis, depending upon whom you ask), with Craig as the host.  The network taped a pair of pilot episodes of the show earlier this summer but there is no word on if or when those shows might air.  Observers say the network might order some episodes as a mid-season replacement but it has not appeared on any schedules so far.

Tonight’s Guests
Monday on the Late Late Show, Craig talks with political commentator Keith Olbermann and actress Kelly Macdonald. Olbermann tweeted:

Delightful time as always with my friend @CraigyFerg and we took this to send to you “on the Tweety” http://twitpic.com/6nlk9h

The website Television Without Pity‘s voters gave the award for Best Late Night Show to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the site’s staff gave a nod to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.  There’s always next year.

There Are Many Reasons
The Late Late Show was not up for any Emmy Awards on Sunday night, although a brief clip from the show made it into Sunday night’s broadcast.  And we think it’s only a matter of time, when the show makes the effort to ponder some of life’s greatest questions.  For example:  Does Craig really tuck his shirt into his underpants?
