Hobos Heading For Thackerville
Tickets for Craig Ferguson‘s first stand up comedy show of the new year went on sale Friday morning and already, hundreds of seats have been sold.  The show will be at the WinStar World Casino, where Craig has appeared for the past couple of years.  It’ just a short rental-car drive from Dallas, so several roboskellies are planning to make the trip.  You can get your tickets through the link on our Live Comedy Tour page.

Regis In Retirement
Writer Mike Marin of Zap2It.com wrote a short column in Fort Wayne, Indiana’s News-Sentinel, suggesting that Regis Philbin has a future promoting up and coming comedians in New York.

Whew! Over Who
Steven Moffat, head writer and executive producer of Doctor Who sent out a pair of tweets Friday that were a relief to many fans of the show, who have been hearing rumors of a Doctor Who feature film and have worried that a Hollywood treatment of their favorite television show wouldn’t do it justice.   He said:

To clarify: any Doctor Who movie would be made by the BBC team, star the current TV Doctor and certainly NOT be a Hollywood reboot.  //  Movie thing: David Yates, great director, was speaking off the cuff, on a red carpet. You’ve seen the rubbish I talk when I’m cornered.

That’s the good news.  The bad news?  There’s still no official word that a film will actually get made any time soon.  Anyone have a Tardis handy to see if there is a movie in the future?

Cheno Dates
The website BroadwayWorld.com caught Kristin Chenoweth‘s conversation with Craig about her bad blind date.

“@MyConstantMusic: My friend & I went as Gp and The Fergs for Halloween. I’m Geoff. Tyler in Saskatoon. http://pic.twitter.com/7u2dO4l8” The hell?

[pullquote] “Personally, I hope he doesn’t get out of the campaign. I need Rick Perry. I don’t want to spend the next year trying to do jokes about Mitt Romney.’’[/pullquote]Campaign Humor
Craig got a mention in long article in Vanity Fair magazine about Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry.  They picked up on his joke that it would be better for comedians if they had someone like Perry as the eventual nominee.

Kristen Bell, Superhero

The funny film-making Farrelly Brothers are reportedly making a film of short sketches, poking fun at comic book superheros.  Among the star-studded cast will be Late Late Show regular Kristen Bell as Supergirl, reports i09.com and ComingSoon.net, which also offers a list of the cast announced so far.  Thanks to the RSA’s @HMSFox for the link.

Tattoos and Susan Boyle
AOL’s TV Replay enjoyed Craig’s chat with comedienne Margaret Cho, who says she is like Susan Boyle but sings dirty songs.  Meanwhile, they also couldn’t resist Aisha Tyler and Craig talking about Barbara Walters and porn.

Movember Mustache

Many people like to take part in “no shave November” or “Movember” either as a way to raise money and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer or just to avoid shaving for a while. Among the celebrities who took part was none other than the lovely Stephen Fry, whose mustache has not quite yet reached General Melchett proportions but looks quite smart. Baaah!

Cheno Returns
The Broadway website Playbill.com reports on Kristin Chenoweth‘s return to the Late Late Show on Thursday.

St. Andrew’s Day
Wednesday, November 30th was St. Andrew’s Day, so in honor of Scots everywhere, we take a look back at a fun visit between two of our favorite funny Scotsmen, Craig Ferguson and Billy Connolly.  We’ll never look at a salad bar the same way again.

Tonight’s Guests
Wednesday on the Late Late Show, Craig talks with author David Sedaris, we’ll hear the music of NEEDTOBREATHE and see some stand up from comedian Jeff Cesario on Tom Lennon‘s final night as the voice of Geoff Peterson.  Josh Robert Thompson returns as the voice of Geoff on Thursday, along with singer/actress Kristin Chenoweth and TV critic Ken Tucker.  Josh tweeted:

@thomaslennon you’ve done a straight man’s job of playing with my gay robot, sir. Yes, that’s code. #khloebanderas…inmypants

Two Words
Ghost.   Rider.   The long-awaited sequel to one of Craig Ferguson‘s favorite action movies is coming to a theater near you in February. Actor Nicholas Cage made the announcement on the Late Late Show that there would be a Ghost Rider 2, and he was true to his word:

Video courtesy: hdnewmoviestrailers

For those of you not steeped in Robot Skeleton Army lore, these movies are part of the reason that Craig’s twitter followers and fans are called the Robot Skeleton Army.  Craig really liked the first Ghost Rider movie because… well, because there’s a guy with a flaming skull riding a motorcycle… what’s not to like?  And as Craig’s free-form line of thinking can sometimes go, he came up with the idea of having a robot skeleton army, living in a James Bond villain-style hollowed-out volcano, waiting to do his bidding and take over the world.  When he joined Twitter, it seemed like a natural fit to call his followers he robot skeleton army.  His appreciation for skeletons also led to the construction of Geoff Peterson, the robot skeleton sidekick.  So we can be sure that Craig will be excited to see this movie when it comes out on February 17th, 2012.

The Lesser-Known Banderas Sister
Clearly, Thomas Lennon is having fun moonlighting as a robot skeleton.  He tweeted and Craig replied:

“Man, I’d give anything for Khloe Banderas to return to @CraigyFerg‘s show…” // watch tonight Tom – the bitch is back!

Craig also responded to a viewer who asked:

@CraigyFerg “would u ever pose nude 4 Playgirl?” // No. Only Parade or Cat Fancy.

King of Television
The ladies of The Talk took a moment on Tuesday’s show to crown Regis Philbin the king of television.

Citizens of the World

The website CelebrityCafe.com is taking a look at celebrities who hold citizenships that might be different than you think.  Among the stars they mention is Craig, who became an American citizen in 2008.

Gumming Up the Works
In case you needed further proof that there is a website out there for practically anything, take a look at this one:  Someone stands on the second floor of the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City and takes pictures of celebrities entering and exiting the building, while being sure to include a piece of chewed gum in the photo.  The resulting blog includes a pictures of Craig from the last time he was in New York to visit David Letterman.

Ken Russell
Controversial British film director Ken Russell, whose big screen contributions included The Who‘s rock opera Tommy has died at the age of 84.  London’s Telegraph newspaper has an extensive obituary.

A Busy Two Weeks
Craig Ferguson and company will be working overtime during the next couple of weeks at CBS Television City.  By our count, they will be taping eight shows this week and seven shows next week.  That adds up to five extra shows that can be stored for future use.  If they use the same plan as last year, taping will probably wrap up on December 16th to give the crew a full two weeks off for the holidays.  Then, those five fresh, new episodes will run December 19-23, followed by the re-run fairy from December 26-30 before new episodes resume on January 2nd.  As always, we’ll keep an eye on schedules and keep you up to date.

Over the Holiday Weekend
In case you missed your daily dose of Craig news over the holiday weekend, you can check back to our previous posts including stories about:

  • Toby Keith and the songwriters of “Red Solo Cup” talk about how the song came about (Craig and Geoff appear in the video)
  • Two reviewers look ahead to the Disney/Pixar animated feature film Brave (featuring Craig as the voice of Lord MacIntosh)
  • Craig’s latest comedy special is now available on iTunes (along with his other special, his books and more)

Looking Back
A year ago this week, Craig was nominated for a Grammy in the Spoken Word Album category for the audiobook version of his autobiography, American On Purpose. The award eventually went to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents Earth. Since he’s been nominated for both a Grammy and an Emmy, maybe someone needs to come up with Craig Ferguson: The Musical, so he has a shot at a Tony Award, too.

Who For You
Also a year ago this week, the long lost Doctor Who opening musical number was mysteriously leaked onto the internet.  Craig had planned the number for an episode featuring the eleventh Doctor Who, Matt Smith as a guest.  But the piece had to be pulled from the show at the last minute due to some legal issues.  After some additional work by the lawyers, the open eventually aired on CBS on an episode a few weeks later when Alex Kingston appeared as a guest.
