Craig’s New Radio Show Starts Monday
Craig Ferguson‘s new radio show begins Monday, February 27 on SiriusXM’s Comedy Greats (Channel 94), weeknights from 6-8pm ET / 3-5pm PT. Craig’s guests will be Josh Robert Thompson and Sarah Paulson. Other opening week guests include Elijah Wood, Yvette Nicole Brown, Rory Scovel, Lauren Graham and Hugh Laurie.

You can purchase SiriusXM receivers at your favorite local electronics store or via their website, or you can be an online-only subscriber. You can learn more about your options on the price list directly from SiriusXM’s website. If you’re starting a SiriusXM subscription for the first time, the website Ebates.com is offering a deal on a streaming-only subscription for $30. That comes to $36.52 with taxes and fees. After that, the price returns to its normal $15.99/month, which is $19.46/month with taxes and fees.

Want to see how to sign up and get an early review of the online subscription? The RSA’s @chandlersdame put together a fun video with all the details:

CF Enjoys Dallas
Craig appeared on stage in Dallas last Thursday, before an appreciative crowd. Comedian Paul Varghese (pictured at left) opened, and the show received a quirky but generally supportive review. The Dallas show will be the last stand up performance for a little while as Craig gets his new radio show up and running. A planned show in Milwaukee on April 8th has been canceled, and a March 2 show in Munhall, Pennsylvania (near Pittsburgh) has been postponed. A new date has not been announced but we’ll pass it along as soon as we get word. You can keep up with Craig’s live appearances on our Live Comedy Tour page.

Saved By The Bell
Craig’s job on Celebrity Name Game is to keep things corralled, but when people run away with it, you get this:

Facebook Fun
Craig Ferguson was traveling between Los Angeles and San Jose, California last week and decided to spend a little time on Facebook Live. In case you missed it, you can see the video here. Craig and company say they plan to pop up on Facebook Live before (and possibly even during) their upcoming daily show on SiriusXM Radio’s channel 94, which begins February 27th, so fans can get a little insight into what’s happening in Craig’s studio.

Corporate Gig
Why was Craig traveling to San Jose? He was doing a corporate gig, hosting an event for a company called Palo Alto Networks, which makes firewall protection for computer networks. Companies and other groups sometimes hire comedians to provide entertainment for big events. We don’t list them on our tour page, because tickets are usually not available to the general public. But sometimes pictures and video pop up from events like these. This time, Craig got to show off the company’s newest gear and you can see a recording of the event here, with thanks to the RSA’s @Colleen_Byrne, @bgrhubarb and others for finding the link.

History of Comedy
As we mentioned in our most recent post, Craig is among the people who were interviewed for CNN’s new original series The History of Comedy, which airs Thursdays at 10pm ET/PT. The series launched this past week and Craig is expected to appear from time to time on different episodes, giving his perspective on comedy and comedians.

Radio Time
As Craig gears up for his new SiriusXM Radio show, he had a chance to appear on several other SiriusXM shows during Super Bowl week, including Sway Calloway‘s show Sway’s Universe. Here’s Craig’s appearance on the show, with thanks to the RSA’s @bgrhubarb and @chandlersdame for spotting it.

Promoting the Show
Craig Ferguson‘s new Sirius XM show starts on February 27th, so this month, he’s promoting the show as much as he can. Craig spent a couple of days in Houston last week, visiting several current Sirius XM radio shows so he could talk about his new show. He visited the Howard Stern Show, the Covino and Rich Show and even Jenny McCarthy‘s show to help spread the word.

Scottish Band Finally Coming to US
The Scottish band Dead Man Fall, from Craig’s hometown of Cumbernauld, was scheduled to perform on The Late Late Show back in 2014. But due to some red tape, they were unable to get their paperwork approved in time before Craig wrapped up his time as host of the show. He did, of course, perform their song, Bang Your Drum in his series finale. But now, it appears the band will finally be able to visit the United States, reports the Cumbernauld News. They’ll be appearing at the Firefly Music Festival in Delaware in June. The band also plans to release a couple of new singles this spring.

Who Appeal
The RSA’s @Ezzie_m, who is both a Craig and Doctor Who fan, found an interesting post on BleedingCool.com. It’s an open letter to Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat, urging him to bring Craig in as a guest star before his friend Peter Capaldi ends his run as the time lord at the end of the year. Time may be running out to make it happen, but we couldn’t agree more.

Radio Bound
As we reported when the news broke last week, Craig Ferguson will be hosting a new radio show on SiriusXM’s Comedy Greats (Channel 94), beginning February 27. The two-hour show will air weeknights from 6-8pm ET / 3-5pm PT. It will be just the second regular, daily show on the channel. Actor/comedian Jay Thomas has a two-hour show that airs just before Craig’s time slot. Programming on the channel the rest of the time is audio of stand up comedians on stage.

We’ve learned a bit more since Thursday’s announcement, including that Craig plans to take the show on the road in New York in March. We are awaiting details on where he’ll be doing the show and will pass those along as we hear more. Craig and Sirius signed an initial two-year deal and will evaluate the show’s progress as it goes. Additional media coverage in the past week came from The Interrobang, The Laugh Button, The A.V. Club, The Comeback and The Comedy Bureau. The original article in the trade publication Variety also noted that Craig is making progress on his second novel, The Sphinx of the Mississippi, and we’ll be keeping an eye on that project as well.

A Sirius Discount
Several robot skeletons have let us know about a discount you can get if you’re starting a SiriusXM subscription for the first time. The website Ebates.com is offering a deal on a streaming-only subscription for $30. That comes to $36.52 with taxes and fees, points out the RSA’s @whyterose713. After that, the price returns to its normal $15.99/month ($19.46/month with taxes and fees). Other discounts are available if you are buying a SiriusXM radio for your home or car and want to try one of the other subscription packages.

The show will also be available on the SiriusXM mobile app for subscribers, and they’ll keep two weeks of the show at a time available in the feed, so if you want to listen to Craig on your way to work, or perhaps late at night if you’re feeling nostalgic, you’ll have that option.

Capaldi To End ‘Doctor Who’ Run
Craig’s show business pal Peter Capaldi has announced this series of Doctor Who will be his last, with new episodes coming this spring, along with a final Christmas special. He told the BBC he has enjoyed the role but wants to seek new challenges. Capaldi is one of many actors to play the Doctor in the show’s 50-year history, and it is expected to continue with a new cast in the future.

Getting Ready
Craig and company are preparing for the launch of The Craig Ferguson Show, and are providing some videos from behind the scenes, including this one, where they are hard at work:

Daily Dose Of Craig To Return
Since December of 2014 when Craig Ferguson ended his run as host of The Late Late Show on CBS, fans around the world have been hoping for the day when their favorite host would return to a daily program where he’d have the time and opportunity to say what was on his mind. The short, structured half-hour formats of Join Or Die and Celebrity Name Game gave us brief flashes of Craigy brilliance, but for many, it simply wasn’t enough.

Fear not, fellow robot skeleton hoboes. Craig will soon be back on the airwaves, this time on the radio, with a full two hours Monday through Friday to say whatever he wants… and with no “tusti-fruitsi” flags, either. It’ll be a radio talk show, it’ll have interviews, it will have silliness. And in classic Craig style, the show won’t adhere to a format. It’ll be pretty wide open, so Craig can talk about what’s going on in the news, chat with guests he’s interested in talking to, and cause general mayhem. News broke Thursday morning that the show can be heard on on SiriusXM’s Comedy Greats (Channel 94) from 6-8pm ET / 3-5pm PT weekdays, beginning February 27th. The first to report it was the trade publication Variety, which Craig retweeted.

How Do I Listen?
If you don’t already have SiriusXM Radio in your home or your car, you may be asking, “How can I listen?” Here’s the skinny: You can purchase SiriusXM receivers at your favorite local electronics store or via their website. Once you have the equipment, you’ll pay a monthly fee to receive the service. There are a few different pricing tiers to consider. And get this: You don’t even need to buy a physical radio. You can also be an online-only subscriber for $15.99 a month. You can learn more about your options on the price list directly from SiriusXM’s website. And we’re told they may also do some live streaming video from the show on the Craig Ferguson Show Facebook page. Watch for updates.

Craig’s official website The Craig Ferguson Show is being taken over for the new radio show. Watch for more content there soon. And there’s a newly revamed Twitter account for the show, @TheCFergShow which will have regular updates. And of course, we’ll continue to report on Craig’s work right here on RSANews.com as we have for the past seven years!

How About Craig’s Other Projects?
As we’ve reported, Join Or Die has completed production, and new episodes of Celebrity Name Game continue through the spring before that show comes to an end. All of the remaining episodes of the game show have been recorded and edited. As far as we know, the handful of stand up comedy dates on Craig’s calendar are still on, but there probably won’t be many added for a while as the radio show gets going. Keep an eye on our Live Comedy Tour page for more.

That’s today’s big news! We’ll have more in our regular weekly installment next week.

Battle For The Ages
With Craig Ferguson going up against Jay Leno on Spike’s Lip Sync Battle, you knew the competition would be tough, the music would be from the 60s and 70s, and the atmosphere would be charged. But who knew that along with his kitty cat dress, Craig would find a way to work a very Secretariat-looking unicorn into his spin on an ABBA classic? Leave it to Craig to bring a pantomime twist. The folks over at Yahoo News have the story, and you can see Jay and Craig at work on YouTube.

Take Two And Call Us In The Morning
The British TV comedy/drama Doc Martin will be coming to an end after two more seasons, reports the website comedy.co.uk. The show has been popular in the UK and around the world, and Friends Executive Producer Marta Kaufman is working on developing an American version of the show. That’s good news for Craig, because the character of Doc Martin is based on a character from his film Saving Grace, and will continue to live on.

Good Omens For Amazon
Author and former Late Late Show guest Neil Gaiman will soon see his novel Good Omens adapted into a miniseries for Amazon. The book tells the story of Earth’s fall toward the Apocalypse with a comedic touch.

Video of the Day
After seeing a clue on Celebrity Name Game, Craig just couldn’t resist telling a classic joke:

Catching Up With Josh
We had a chance to catch up with Josh Robert Thompson this week. He’s celebrating the news he announced right before the holidays that he has secured a development deal to help pitch his self-titled variety show. Using mostly his own money, along with a fan fundraiser that surpassed expectations to complete post production, he has a complete, ready-to-air pilot episode in hand. Now, with the help of a new team behind him, he’ll be working to sell the show to television outlets. If you haven’t checked out the trailer, take a look:

If you want to see more of the characters Josh has developed for the show, he regularly broadcasts on Facebook Live, using his improvisational skill and exploring new possibilities. He told us he has embraced social media as a place to be creative, and his fan base continues to grow. More than ten thousand people tuned in to his most recent show, which he performs and directs in real time.

Irons in the Fire
Meanwhile, Josh has been busy as a voice actor, appearing regularly on Family Guy and the new Skylanders Academy on Netflix, where he plays several characters, including (ironically) a floating, talking skull. He has a role as a priest in the horror film Revalator. And he told us he has been working on a new web series titled F*cking 40, a comedic take on the lives of 40 year-olds, directed by Josh’s longtime friend Bill Caco. Watch for that on a web screen near you some time in the coming year.

The Voice of God
Josh has been invited to return for a second year as the “voice of God” announcer for the Writers Guild Awards, one of the premier awards shows in Hollywood, coming up on February 19th with Patton Oswalt hosting. Last year Patton and Josh had the opportunity to ad-lib during the show and they hope to keep the fun rolling. The show is not broadcast on television, but the Los Angeles Times has live streamed the event on their Facebook page in the past.

Thankful For Fans
We asked Josh about his work on The Late Late Show and the growing fan base he has built, dating back to public access television shows, stand up comedy, his many voice acting roles, on-screen performances and more. He said the LLS was a dream job, he is grateful for everyone who had a chance to discover him on the show, and hopes they’ll come along wherever the next ride takes him.

Lip Sync Challenge
We saw Craig do some pretty good lip sync work on The Late Late Show. Can he still bring it and compete head to head with Jay Leno? The full show is on the Spike cable network Thursday at 9pm ET /PT. Check out the backstage preview show here (including interviews with Leno and Ferguson), along with a preview showing Craig at work:
