Napa Selling Quickly
Tickets for Craig Ferguson‘s April west coast stand up comedy tour are selling quickly.  After a scan of how many tickets have already been sold, we noticed that the best available seats in Napa, CA are already halfway up the balcony.  And in Medford, OR, there are only a few seats remaining on the main floor.  The shows there are expected to sell out soon.  If you are planning to go, book those tickets!

Friday Fact
We haven’t had a Friday Fact for a while, so here’s one:  If Craig Ferguson’s 1, 140,000+ followers were gathered all in one place, they would form the 43rd largest state in America, ahead of Rhode Island, Montana or either of the Dakotas.  That’s also a large enough group to merit two representatives in the U.S. House, along with two Senators.  All we need now is a territory to call home.  Montana must have some land it isn’t using, right?

Raquel Talks About “Fun”
The Huffington Post noticed Craig’s conversation with Raquel Welch about marijuana and other things going on behind the scenes in Hollywood.

Craig Sings Astaire

The RSA’s @RamonaMGreene was delighted when Craig started singing a line from Fred Astaire‘s “Let’s Face the Music and Dance,” during his introduction of Susan Sarandon. Ramona tracked down a film clip which includes the song and one of Astaire’s most memorable dances with Ginger Rogers. The song itself starts at about 3:30 into the clip.

Tonight’s Guests
Friday on the Late Late Show, Craig talks with actress Kristin Davis and actor Chris O’Dowd.

Guest Update

Jennette Mccurdy

The Late Late Show guest listings have been updated through March 23rd, to include Leslie Bibb, David Milch, Jason Segel, Jennette McCurdy and Regis Philbin, followed by encore shows with Molly Shannon, Michael K. Williams, Poppy Montgomery and Charlie Higson.  Three more new episodes will feature Anne Rice, Geoff Tate, Kathy Bates, Brad Goreski, Elizabeth Banks and the newly-added comedian Bryan Miller.  Then we’ll see rebroadcasts of shows featuring Ewan McGregor, Paula Poundstone, David Sedaris and Jeff Cesario.  Remember, on March 15-16 and March 22-23, the encore shows could appear an hour later than usual or more, due to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.  No new tapings have been scheduled at the studio until at least March 26th, and we’re watching to see if they decide to run a new episode or an encore on April 2nd, following the championship game.  As always, the most complete listings can be found on our Guests page.

March Madness Approaches
The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament returns to CBS next week, which means the network’s late night schedule will be happening even later on game nights.  In past years, the games have lasted until around midnight eastern time, which means your local news, Late Night with David Letterman, the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and the Shamwow commercials may be broadcast an hour or more later than usual.

A close look at our Guests page shows that the upcoming schedule contains a few “freeze-dried” shows, which have been taped in advance and saved over the past couple of weeks.  There are also some “to be announced” shows, which will most likely be re-runs.  According to the audience listings we’ve seen, no tapings are scheduled at CBS Television City for a while.  As the guest listings are updated, we’ll be sure to post them.

Six Weeks and Counting
Craig Ferguson‘s west coast stand up comedy tour kicks off in just six short weeks.  Do you have your tickets yet?  A few of the stops on the tour are in smaller venues, which means fewer tickets are available.  Book early to avoid disappointment!  For the latest information about show locations, dates, times and ticket links, our Live Comedy Tour page has everything you need.

TARDIS Art
You’ve seen a plastic desktop TARDIS, you’ve seen smarphone covers made to look like the iconic Doctor Who time-traveling device and you’ve seen a woman in Germany build her own full-sized one. How about a stained-glass TARDIS? BoingBoing.net found one.

Feel like a hockey puck?  There’s an app for that
If you’ve ever wanted to have the acerbic comedy of Don Rickles available on demand no matter where you are, it has never been easier.  The pop culture website iconvsicon.com reports that Rickles has just released the “Mr. Warmth App” for iPhone and Android, which includes jokes and wry insults with the touch of a button.  Among the celebrities to get the Rickles treatment is Craig Ferguson.  Thanks to the RSA’s @CozyHobo for the link!

Lynn Having Fun
Lynn Ferguson‘s new web series, which takes a humorous look at the day in history, features different actors and comedians each day. As you’ll see in the March 9th edition, Lynn herself takes charge.

Tonight’s Guests
Thursday on the Late Late Show, Craig enjoys a conversation with the one and only Raquel Welch, and talks about driving fast and turning left with NASCAR driver Carl Edwards.  Friday, Craig’s guests are actress Kristin Davis and actor Chris O’Dowd.

Craig’s Band Days
We first told you back in December about an exhibition of photographs in Glasgow that features images from Scotland’s wild music scene of the 1970s and 80s. At the time, we hadn’t seen any photos of Craig’s band Bastards From Hell, later known as the Dreamboys, apart from one picture of lead singer Peter Capaldi. But as the RSA’s @bec_giddy discovered, a new article from Scotsman.com about the exhibit includes a photo of the band with Craig on drums.

Community and Courtney

The Huffington Post liked Joel McHale‘s confident prediction that NBC’s Community would fare well competing head-to-head with CBS’ The Big Bang Theory. They also enjoyed the conversation Courtney Cox shared with Craig about her neat freak tendencies.

More Michael
LLS Producer Michael Naidus bemoaned his recent on-camera appearances on the show:

Way too much me on the show tonight. #badproducingnowwatchtheratingsdrop

Outside of the Box

An artist named Chris Fennell has found a creative way to turn old cardboard boxes into art, including a series of portraits of late night television hosts.  Thanks to the RSA’s @bgrhubarb for the link.

Tonight’s Guests
Wednesday on the Late Late Show, Craig chats with actress Susan Sarandon and comedian Rondell Sheridan.  CBS tweeted:

2nite @CraigyFerg sneaks a peek at Susan Sarandon’s spine, then comedian Rondell Sheridan performs on #LateLateShow, 12:37am ET/PT!

On Thursday, Craig welcomes actress Raquel Welch and NASCAR driver Carl Edwards.

Bing Hitler Record
Time is running out on an Ebay auction for a rare copy of Craig Ferguson‘s record from his days performing as Bing Hitler. The record contains “The Sheep Song” and “Scotland Och Aye.” Our thanks to @SariesWick for spotting the auction and letting us know. Will a lucky roboskelly win the bid?

News for Robot Fans
A pair of stories are making news for robotics fans this week. First, Ralph McQuarrie, who helped design the Star Wars characters Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO, died Saturday at the age of 82, as reported on MSNBC.com. Thanks to the RSA’s @doxieone1 for the heads up.  And on the other side of the country, the AFP news agency is reporting that robotics experts at the Pentagon have designed a robot “cheetah” that can run at speeds of up to 18 miles per hour. Thanks to the RSA’s @spiny_starfish for the link!

An Interesting Family Name
The RSA’s @RaniVermonty noticed a film released in 2011 called The Great Ghost Rescue, which features a family of ghost characters known as the Craggyfords. Sounds a lot like “CraigyFerg” doesn’t it?

Who Streams
The RSA’s @LoveAllThingsUK sent us a tip that Series 6 of Doctor Who is now available for streaming on NetFlix. Now is your chance to get caught up on the latest season with the eleventh doctor, Matt Smith, before the start of the new series later this year.

Brave Trailer and Poster – Japan
The newest trailer for the Disney/Pixar animated feature film Brave has been released, along with a new poster. These are for Japan, and emphasize the mystery of the film more than the humor showcased in the American trailer. Best of all, it shows portions of scenes we have not seen before, complete with English subtitles. Thanks to the RSA’s @MissGraoully and many more skellies for giving us the heads-up.

Tonight’s Guests

Tuesday on the Late Late Show, Craig talks with actor and host of E!’s The Soup, Joel McHale and in a last-minute schedule change, comedian Dan Boulger‘s appearance has been moved up to Tuesday night.  On Wednesday, watch for actress Susan Sarandon and comedian Rondell Sheridan.

Guest Update

The list of confirmed guests for the Late Late Show has been updated through March 20th, including changes with Dan Boulger and Rondell Sheridan as noted above. It also includes the addition of comedian Geoff Tate. You can find the most current listings on our Guests page.

CORRECTION: In an earlier version of our most recent post, we mistakenly included a clip of actor/impressionist James Adomian during one of his many appearances on the Late Late Show, portraying George W. Bush. Mr. Adomian is alive and well and the clip was not of impressionist Steve Bridges, who passed away earlier this week. We have replaced the clip with one of Mr. Bridges performing on the Tonight Show. We apologize to Mr. Adomian and regret the error. We strive for accuracy at all times and appreciate every comment, suggestion and correction request from our readers.

As we mentioned in our post on Sunday, many of our readers send in tips by tweeting us links to stories they see that mention interesting news about Craig Ferguson or the Late Late Show.  As proof of that, all of today’s stories were brought to our attention by our readers.  Take a look:

Late Night Show Stats
New York Magazine‘s Vulture (culture) section decided to take a statistical look at late night television shows and came up with a bunch of interesting facts and built them into a slide show. Craig is mentioned in several of the slides. Thanks to the RSA’s @Colleen_Byrne for the link. By the way, Colleen mentioned that proceeds from this month’s sales at her online storefeaturing Robot Skeleton Army gear, will go to the Red Cross for tornado relief.

Scottish Enlightenment
The popular website omg-facts.com includes a fact inspired by one of Craig’s recent monologues. He mentioned Scotland’s role in the Enlightenment. When the audience laughed, he told them to look it up and omg-facts.com did. Thanks to the RSA’s @Emi_shell for spotting it!

Daily Humor

Craig’s talented sister, writer/producer/actress Lynn Ferguson has a new project which provides quick, funny vignettes about the day in history. For example, March 5th. Lynn’s husband Mark Tweddle explains in his blog how the project began. Thanks to the RSA’s @chromajoy for the tip!

Impressionist Passes Away
Comic impressionist Steve Bridges has died.  Best known for his impression of former president George W. Bush and the elaborate makeup he used to transform into character, Bridges appeared on the Tonight Show many other programs, as well as standing side by side with the real President Bush at the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2006.  He was just 48 years old, as CBS News and many other outlets reported. Thanks to the RSA’s @normaapril for letting us know. CORRECTION: In an earlier version of this post, we mistakenly included a clip of actor/impressionist James Adomian during one of his many appearances on the Late Late Show, portraying George W. Bush. Mr. Adomian is alive and well and the clip was not of impressionist Steve Bridges, who passed away earlier this week. We have replaced the clip with one of Mr. Bridges performing on the Tonight Show. Tonight’s Guests

Monday on the Late Late Show, Craig chats with actress Courtney Cox and comedian Louie Anderson.  Tuesday, Craig’s guest is actor and host of E!’s The Soup, Joel McHale.

X-Men Meet Downton Abbey
Craig Ferguson is keeping up the theme of his tweets from two weeks ago, when he opined about the virtues of Hellboy, the X-Men, Downton Abbey and Grey Poupon commercials.  On Saturday evening, hes imagined them all coming together:

Just seen XMen 1st Class for the first time. I loved it when the mutants moved into Downton Abbey. #mrBatesisWolverine #justashairy

And speaking of hairy, Craig’s tweets on Sunday morning reflected on pets and 70’s movie stars:

Ugh, I feel like Burt Reynolds – woke up covered in hair. My giant German Shepherd slept on top of my bed last night. So did my dog.  //  Hashtags missing from last tweet. #SeeWhatIDidThere #LeTitsNow

Craig also re-tweeted actor Christopher Gorham:

As you start your Sunday at home, think of those who’ve lost theirs and donate to @RedCross . #Tornadoes

As we mentioned on our front page, to help those affected by the tornadoes across the central US, you can make a donation to the Red Cross on their website or by texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make an instant $10 donation.

Scottish Press
The Scottish newspaper Herald Scotland is taking Craig to task for his comments about his home town of Cumbernauld. It’s a story he has told several times before, quoting a book in which the town has been described the “second worst” in Britain. It came up again because recent guest Jon Ronson’s wife is also from Cumbernauld. The paper quotes a local official who believed the characterization was unnecessarily harsh.

Brave Old World
As The Hollywood Reporter explains, the folks at Disney/Pixar are partnering with Visit Scotland, the country’s national tourist agency, to promote travel inspired by this summer’s release of the film Brave. Scottish tourist authorities believe the film, which features the voice talents of Craig Ferguson and other notable Scots, will be one of the biggest boons to the tourist industry in decades.

Alex the Intern
Alex the LLS intern is also starring in an independent film called Good Knight.

Murder She Wrote
It’s time for another episode of Murder She Wrote.  Do we have a picture of Paul McCartney?

This Week’s Guests

Chris O'Dowd

It’s another week of all-new episodes of the Late Late Show, beginning on Monday with actress Courtney Cox and comedian Louie Anderson.  Tuesday’s lone guest on the schedule is actor/TV host Joel McHale.  Wednesday, Craig welcomes actress Susan Sarandon and comedian Dan Boulger.  Actress Raquel Welch, and NASCAR driver Carl Edwards are in the studio on Thursday.  And on Friday, Craig chats with actress Kristin Davis and actor Chris O’Dowd.

A Word of Caution About Tickets
The RSA’s @skousehouse made an important point in the comments section of our most recent post. She said:

PORTLAND TICKETS / Google alerts refers you to a site that is scalpers selling tkts for over $200 / I got my front row seats for only $55 ea / call the Box Office direct for your tickets…

For your own protection, please only buy your tickets from the authorized sellers: The venues themselves or Ticketmaster. When you buy from the authorized outlets, you can be assured that the tickets are genuine and are being sold at face value. We link directly to the authorized ticket outlets on our Live Comedy Tour page.

Craig Tweets
On Saturday afternoon, Craig tweeted in reference to some of the week’s news:

Rush makes me ashamed to be a middleaged white man and Kirk Cameron makes me ashamed to be a failed actor. We don’t all think like that NoH8

He also retweeted a very nice photograph from Scotland:

Scottish Highlands http://bit.ly/zRXBHf

Audio Trouble
Noticeable audio errors rarely happen in network television programs, but on Friday night, viewers heard the sound of the Late Late Show disappear twice during the east coast broadcast, which is seen in most of the eastern and central time zones. The sound vanished during part of Craig’s conversation with Dennis Miller (near a point in the interview which was edited for time) and again for almost the entire introduction of the musical guests, The Light Brigade. It was unintentional and was fixed for viewers by the time the west coast broadcast was aired. LLS Producer Michael Naidus tweeted:

Ooh la la! Apologies to those on East Coast for weird audio problems on tonight’s show. Should be fixed on West Coast!

Craig re-tweeted Michael’s comment as well as a tweet from actress Leslie Bibb, who had pre-taped her March 12th appearance on Friday and jokingly asked if what she said was “code”:

“@mslesliebibb: Ahhh, just got home from a long ass day. Had the best time Thank you @CraigyFerg for another good time on ur couch! x”#code?

Craig’s Musical Connections

The RSA’s @Colleen_Byrne reminded us that two members of Friday’s musical guest band The Light Brigade, vocalist/guitarist Tim Mosher and the drummer who goes by the name of Stoker, have made a reputation as television and film composers in Hollywood. You might be familiar with one of their tunes: The Late Late Show theme!

Gummy Haggis?
Once again, there is proof that you can find anything on the internet. A blog writer for GeekAlerts.com wrote a brief story about something called “Gummy Haggis,” a candy form of the Scottish national dish. The writer, who doesn’t seem to think it would taste very good, mistakenly thought the meal was Irish until being corrected in the comments. We’ll stick to the real thing, thanks. Thanks to the RSA’s @itspurpl for the tip!

[stextbox id=”custom” bgcolor=DBF7D8]Thanks From Us
We have just one birthday/anniversary to report this weekend: Ours. Robot Skeleton Army News got its start in February of 2010, not long after Craig joined Twitter and started calling his followers his “robot skeleton army.” With the exception of a few days off in the summer or around the holidays when Craig & Company take a long break, we have been reporting about Craig, the Late Late Show and other related news seven days a week for the past two years.

We are here because you are here. Not only are we proud of having more than 500 “likes” on Facebook, more than 3,700 followers on Twitter and an average of nearly 10,000 visits to our website each month, we are humbled by the many loyal readers who contribute their stories, ideas and news tips, so they can be shared with fellow members of Craig’s ever-growing Robot Skeleton Army of fans. Your energy, enthusiasm and sense of humor make our efforts much easier. This endeavor is an entirely volunteer operation and we welcome your continued readership, submissions, ideas and friendship. Your warmth makes us feel like we’re riding a unicorn to cake mountain! Many Thanks.
