Craig Goes Large at Largo
Craig Ferguson drew a sellout crowd to Largo in Los Angeles last Thursday to watch a live on-stage version of his SiriusXM radio show. With his guests Thomas Lennon, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Judd Apatow, comedienne Claudia O’Doherty, Josh Robert Thompson and show writer Joseph Bolter. After spending a couple of weeks in New York this spring and producing a live show on stage, they’re gearing up for a two-week run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. If you’re the traveling sort, enjoy Peruvian flute bands and don’t mind hanging out with throngs of semi-intoxicated people at any hour of the day, you can get your tickets on our Live Comedy Tour page.

Red Nose Day
The American version of Red Nose Day, hosted by Chris Hardwick and aired on NBC last week, raised a remarkable 35 million dollars to help children in poverty here at home and around the world. In its 25 year history in the UK and three years so far in the US, the event has raised more than a billion dollars. And it’s not too late to make your donation.

Corden To Host Grammys
As reported by GoldDerby.com and others, Late Late Show host James Corden has been invited to host the Grammy Awards for a second time. He was well-received in his first year as host in 2016. He has hosted the British equivalent to the Grammys, the Brit Awards, five times and has hosted the Tony Awards.

Fan Mail
Since it’s the modern era and Craig is doing a radio show, he prefers phone calls to snail mail. But just for fun, he answered a few letters:

If you’re a fan of Doctor Who, you’ll appreciate this contest. As part of the American version of Red Nose Day hosted this year by Chris Hardwick, they’re offering you and a companion (naturally) a chance (in fact, the more you donate, the more chances you get) to have breakfast with seven of the actors who have portrayed the Doctor over the years, including Craig’s pal Peter Capaldi, Matt Smith, David Tennant and more. British Airways will fly you to London, you’ll stay at the The Ned (Soho House’s newest hotel) and enjoy breakfast in a private dining room at the Wolseley Restaurant with seven Doctors. Hurry, time is running out to enter. Click here to learn more. You can get a single entry in the contest by giving them your email address, but the idea is to get some donations for a great cause. Have fun!

Putting the ‘Ham’ in Hamilton

Kevin Pollak Interviews Craig
In Hollywood, it has become an expected part of life: If you appear on somebody’s talk show or podcast, they’ll have to appear on your talk show or podcast someday. Craig Ferguson was an early guest on Kevin Pollak‘s Chat Show (a video and audio podcast) back in 2010, and Pollak has appeared on The Late Late Show and Celebrity Name Game. Recently, Pollak turned up on Craig’s new radio show, so it was inevitable: Craig was a guest on Pollak’s show over the weekend. That first interview a few years ago was, in our humble opinion, one of the best long-form interviews Craig has ever done, and the new interview is great as well. He talked about the challenges of interviewing people, and mentioned that he’s planning to move out of LA in a couple of years.

But perhaps the biggest news to come from the interview was about books. Not only is Craig in the process of writing his promised second novel, The Sphinx of the Mississippi, but he his writing another memoir, covering a lot of ground in his life that didn’t make it into his first autobiography American on Purpose. He said the book would include memories from the “backroads” of his life, and should be coming out in the spring of 2018. The novel is hold, but will come out sometime after the memoir. As huge fans of Craig’s writing, we can’t wait! Here is the full interview:

Chris Hardwick Talks
Chris Hardwick‘s new talk show Talking on AMC is quickly getting on a roll. This past week, Chris’ guest was Late Late Show host James Corden. He has also interviewed Elijah Wood, the cast of Silicon Valley, and Michelle Monaghan. The interviews are in-depth and fun, and as the RSA’s @bgrhubarb pointed out, they’re recorded in the old, smaller Late Late Show studio at CBS Television City.

Upcoming Guests
Guests coming up in the next couple of weeks on the Craig Ferguson Show include punk rock legend Steve Jones, Kevin Bacon, Seth Green, comedian/author Moshe Kasher, Paula Poundstone, actor Tim Simons, Ken Marino and more!

Euroskellies Rejoice!
Craig Ferguson fans from the UK and all across Europe are excited because Craig will appear at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the first time in more than 20 years. The Scotsman newspaper says Craig will be hosting his SiriusXM radio show at a new venue run by the Gilded Balloon, one of the four main venue operators at the festival and a big producer of comedy year-round in Edinburgh. Along with the radio show, he may also do some stand up comedy. Tickets are not yet on sale, but we’ll link to them when they become available and we’ll pass along more details as they are announced. Fans of Canadian comedian Mark Forward, who has opened many times for Craig, take note: Mark is also appearing at the Fringe this year.

Upcoming Guests
Craig had a fun time with Drew Carey on the show last week. Guests coming up in the next couple of weeks on the Craig Ferguson Show include comedian Jay Larson, Jenna Elfman, comedian Russel Howard, Seth Green, actor/writer Michael McMillian, comedians the Sklar Brothers, radio hosts Covino and Rich, Ken Marino and Kevin Bacon.

Daytime Emmys
Craig has won two Daytime Emmy Awards for his work hosting Celebrity Name Game. He was nominated for a third time this year. The winner for Outstanding Game Show Host went to Steve Harvey of Family Feud this year. The show itself was also nominated for Outstanding Game Show this year, and the award went to Jeopardy!

Turning It On Helps
Not even Celebrity Name Game is without the occasional technical problem, but sometimes the solution is pretty easy.

Daytime Emmys On Sunday
The Daytime Emmy Awards are scheduled to be presented on Sunday, April 30. Craig Ferguson is nominated for a third time as Outstanding Game Show Host for Celebrity Name Game, and the show itself is nominated for Outstanding Game Show. Meanwhile, keep those electronic gizmos tuned to SiriusXM Channel 94 this week, when Craig sits down with Ariel Tweto, John Henson and Dulé Hill.

Carpool Karaoke In Prime Time
The successful “Carpool Karaoke” segment from James Corden‘s Late Late Show will be returning to prime time with a new special on CBS, reports the trade publication Variety. The show on May 22nd at 10pm ET/PT will include clips from the LLS, along with some special guests to be announced soon. Apple TV is launching a 16-episode run of a separate “Carpool Karaoke” show, featuring different guest hosts in the driver’s seat each time. Corden and LLS EP Ben Winston are executive producing that show.

Corden Nearly Didn’t Host LLS
James Corden has won praise for his work as host of the LLS, taking over for Craig in 2015. But as AFP (via GulfNews) reports, it nearly didn’t happen for the multi-talented British actor/writer/producer, because of a lowball offer from CBS. But the second time was the charm, as they reached a deal to bring the new host to the U.S.

A ‘Name Game’ Round
What better topic for a round of Celebrity Name Game than Celebrity Name Game itself?

Teeth, Tans and Raj
The list of upcoming guests on Craig Ferguson‘s SiriusXM radio show keeps growing, with some familiar names who were favorite guests from The Late Late Show, and some surprises. Craig will chat with his dentist Dr. Laurence Rifkin on Wednesday. The “surprise” guest on Thursday will be George Hamilton, followed by Kunal Nayyar on Friday. Next week, listen for comedians Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme of the Broken Lizard comedy group, Sharon Osbourne, Ariel Tweto, John Henson and Dulé Hill.

Hardwick To Host Red Nose Day
Comedian and podcaster Chris Hardwick will host this year’s Red Nose Day on NBC. The fundraiser is the American version of the highly successful British effort to raise money for children in poverty across the country and around the world. People Magazine has more on the star-studded lineup for this year’s event on May 25th. Craig hosted the show last year.

Bringing Back Talk
Speaking of Chris Hardwick, he was recently interviewed by Uproxx about his new television show for AMC called Talking with Chris Hardwick, where he’ll take the concept of talking about AMC’s shows like Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead to talk about all things pop culture. In the interview, he says he wants to bring the art of conversation back to the TV talk show. He’ll also be providing a longer version of those conversations in podcast form, with additional content edited from the TV version. Thanks to the RSA’s @bgrhubarb for the heads up!

Clued In
Going ten for ten is almost impossible on a round of Celebrity Name Game, but sometimes contestants can get pretty close.
