Foxwoods Tickets
Tickets for Craig Ferguson‘s October 13th stand up comedy performance on the stage of the MGM Grand Theater at Connecticut’s Foxwoods Resort officially go on sale Friday, June 15th at 10am ET.  However, we have been told that there will be a one-day pre-sale, beginning at 10am on Thursday.  Instead of a using pre-sale code, we will post a special link on our Live Comedy Tour page.  We’ll put it online as soon as tickets become available and all you’ll need to do is follow the link to order your tickets before the general public.  If you’re planning a trip to Foxwoods to see Craig, be sure to be here Thursday morning.

Another Online Contest
BBC America is hosting a tournament-style contest to name Anglo fans’ favorite male celebrity. It’s being done in a bracket style, with celebs going head-to-head, and the winners advancing to the next round. In the first round, Craig Ferguson is up against actor John Barrowman.

Brave Thoughts

As the release of the Disney/Pixar film Brave draws closer, we’re seeing more interviews with some of the show’s stars, including BIlly Connolly, Kelly MacDonald and Emma Thompson, who tell FlicksAndBits.com about their impressions of the film.

What Did We Learn?
How did the “What did we learn on the show tonight, Craig?” segment begin? It all started when Craig mocked Jared, spokesman for Subway restaurants, who happened to be sponsors of the show. The result was an apology that night and a nightly chance to reflect for many months afterward.

This Week’s Guests

Cody Horn

All-new episodes of the Late Late Show are on tap this week, starting Monday with actor Jason Schwartzman and comedian Rory Scovel.  Tuesday, Craig chats with actor Andy Garcia and actress Cody Horn, plus we’ll see a performance by comedian Matt Kirshen.  On Wednesday, watch for actress Ellen Page and musician Lee Brice.  Comedian Don Rickles and actor Max Greenfield will be in the studio on Thursday.  And on Friday, the guests have not yet been confirmed by CBS, but we noticed that actress Jenna Elfman is scheduled for a taping.  We’ll update our listings as soon as we get the official word.

Scottish Accents
The website Scotsman.com is reporting that when the Disney/Pixar film Brave is released in many non-English speaking countries, it will be dubbed by local actors (in English) because of concerns that Scottish accents will be difficult to understand.

Spendy Brave Gear

The Orange County Register is reporting about a new Disney store opening in California, featuring higher-end merchandise and art from the Disney collections.  Among the items featured is a statue of Merida’s dress from Brave, selling for just under $16,000.

Brave on your Phone
As NDTV.com explains, a new version of the video game Temple Run will be released on June 14th, with a Brave theme.  The app for your iPhone or Android phone will set you back 99 cents and come with some free coins to get your started.

Monkey Tassels

The RSA’s @HoboRobot was looking at Amazon.com and found “monkey tassels.” She decided to come up with a poster promoting an interesting possible use for them. Maybe the monkeys are a tribute to Kronos, king of the monkey people. All we would need are tiny little elevator operator uniforms.

June Birthdays

Judy Garland

Saturday, June 9th is the birthday of playwriter/screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, actor Michael J. Fox, actor Johnny Depp and actress Natalie Portman. Sunday, June 10th is the birthday of Oscar-winning actress Hattie McDaniel, Britain’s Prince Philip, actress Elizabeth Hurley and the multi-talented Judy Garland. Here, enjoy one of Garland’s most powerful performances on screen, singing “The Man That Got Away” from the film A Star Is Born.

Book Early
We took a quick look at ticket sales for Craig Ferguson‘s upcoming stand up comedy performances, and it appears they are doing pretty well. In particular, tickets in Chicago are selling briskly after going on sale to the general public on Friday morning. We spotted that individual tickets and “silver” tables for the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation event in November are already sold out. You’ll have to move up to the “gold” table level or get on a waiting list if you hope to see that show. As for the rest, decent seats are still available but book early to avoid disappointment! See the full list on our Live Comedy Tour page.

Brave Screenings
If you are a member of Disney’s official fan club and live in select US cities, you may have a chance to see a screening of the new Disney/Pixar animated feature film Brave. During the next two weeks, special fan club events are being planned to give insiders a sneak peek. Details were just released by Disney on the fan club website. Please note that to be eligible, you need to already be a member and go through their ticket process. If you joined today, your membership material would not be processed in time.

Paula Returning to the LLS

In an interview with AnthologySD.com, a San Diego entertainment venue where she will soon be performing live, comedienne Paula Poundstone mentions that she recently recorded a comedy set for the Late Late Show, which is tentatively scheduled to be broadcast in July.  As she tells the interviewer, a set originally planned to be about her kids will instead focus on her jokes on Twitter.  Thanks to the RSA’s @Ojoya for the link!

A Craig Rant
After seeing Craig on a bit of a rant the other night, we were reminded of a time when Craig had the blues and found a way to improve his mood:

Tonight’s Guests
Friday on the Late Late Show, enjoy an encore presentation of the March 19th show, featuring Craig’s conversation with author Anne Rice, plus comedy by Geoff Tate.  All-new episodes of the Late Late Show resume on Monday.

Guest Update

Actress Jenna Elfman has been added to the list of future guests schedule for taping. You can see the most complete listings on our Guests page.

Chicago Tickets Go On Sale

Tickets for Craig Ferguson‘s November 15th stand up comedy performance at the Chicago Theatre go on sale Friday at 10am CT. You can find all of the details about the location, date, time and a link for tickets on our Live Comedy Tour page.  If you use the promo code CHISOCIAL now, you can get Chicago tickets before they officially go on sale.  Tickets for Craig’s show at Foxwoods Resort in Connecticut go on sale next Friday, June 15th at 10am ET.

Craig Praise
The RSA’s @RaniVermonty noticed some blog posts written a few years ago by an anchor at the ABC television station in Albany, NY about Craig. In the first post, she talks about enjoying an episode of the show, followed by a second post about Thanksgiving that included a clip from the show. In the third post, she talks about getting a nice note, shirt and mug from Craig. Finally, a few months later, she added a fourth post mentioning Craig, this time to congratulate him on winning a Peabody Award for his interview of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. We’re always glad to see when people notice how good the show can be. Also, @RaniVermonty let us know about a live performance Craig did in 2008 that was missing from the list on our Live Comedy Tour page. If you know of a missing show, please let us know!

TARDIS Towel
The RSA’s @sumdude noticed a tweet that included a picture of a TARDIS beach towel. The towel is sold by the folks at ThinkGeek.com, who have all sorts of Doctor Who gear and other geeky stuff. When we checked most recently, the beach towel is out of stock. Hopefully, you won’t have to turn back time to get one and they’ll be re-supplied sometime soon.

Success for McKidd
One of the voices in the Disney/Pixar film Brave, Kevin McKidd, tells Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper about how he faced some lean years as an actor after his breakthrough role in the seminal Scottish film Trainspotting.

Squirrel Wars
In a classic monologue, Craig takes on the squirrels:

Tonight’s Guests
Thursday on the Late Late Show, enjoy the April 19th show with actress Kelly Preston and author Joel Stein.  And on Friday, watch for an encore presentation of the March 19th episode with author Anne Rice and comedian Geoff Tate.

Foxwoods Tickets
Tickets for Craig Ferguson‘s October 13th stand up comedy performance at Foxwoods Resort in Connecticut will go on sale Friday, June 15th at 10am ET. One week earlier, tickets for Craig’s November 15th show in Chicago go on sale Friday, June 8th at 10am CT. We’re still waiting to hear about ticket sale dates for Hershey, Pennsylvania and Craig’s September shows at the Venetian in Las Vegas. Keep an eye on our Live Comedy Tour page for the latest ticket information.

Sister Cities
You’ve probably heard of the concept of “sister cities,” sometimes called “twinning” in the UK, in which two cities, usually in different countries, agree to a sort of informal partnership to promote each other culturally, economically and in the interest of good fellowship.  The RSA’s @bgrhubarb noticed a story from Scotland’s STV about a partnership between towns in Scotland and Oregon that simply had to happen.

Brave Interviews

Some of the voices behind the Disney/Pixar film Brave have been touring Scotland, building anticipation for the movie’s release in the UK in August. Scotland’s Daily Record newspaper interviewed Kelly MacDonald, Kevin McKidd and Robbie Coltrane about their favorite Disney memories.

Red Solo Cup
Country singer Toby Keith‘s unlikely hit song “Red Solo Cup” has been nominated for two CMT Awards, including Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year. In case you haven’t seen it, look for a cameo appearance by a couple of familiar faces at about 45 seconds and again at 52 seconds into the video:

Tonight’s Guests
Wednesday on the Late Late Show (after Monday’s guest switcheroo), we’re guessing that the April 30th episode with comedian Jim Gaffigan and chef Cat Cora will be on your screen tonight.  Thursday, the schedule calls for the April 19th show with actress Kelly Preston and author Joel Stein.

Re-Run Rhumba
We’re not sure if it was a mix-up at CBS or a bit of last-minute re-shuffling, but the April 13th episode of the Late Late Show with guests Sean Hayes and Lena Dunham, which was scheduled to be rebroadcast on Wednesday, showed up on Monday night instead.  CBS has not posted any changes to the schedule it issued last week, so we’re not sure if that means the April 30th show with Jim Gaffigan and Cat Cora, intended for Monday, will show up on Wednesday or if another show will be in its place.  We’ll keep an eye out for any official word.

Talk Show Tarantella
The RSA’s Adam I brought up an interesting question, asking whether Craig Ferguson will be doing any appearances on other talk shows promoting the new movie Brave.  We have not heard of any planned appearances by Craig to promote the film but some last-minute opportunities may arise.  We’ll keep you posted.  So far, Robbie Coltrane, Kelly MacDonald and Kevin McKidd seem to be doing much of the publicity tour.  MacDonald and McKidd will appear on the Late Late Show in the week leading up to June 22nd.  McKidd will also be on ABC’s The View on June 12th.

Fan Fandango
Are you planning to see Craig perform live this fall?  Will you be enjoying the sights and sounds of Vegas in September, taking a road trip to see one more of Craig’s shows in the northeast in October or breezing through the windy city in November?  Please let us know!  We’ve heard that several robot skeletons are planning to get together in New York for Craig’s show at Radio City Music Hall.  Drop us a line or let us know in the comments below.

Addams Tango
With all of today’s headlines featuring a dance theme, we couldn’t resist a twist:  Enjoy the moves of John Astin and Carolyn Jones as Gomez and Morticia Addams, to the sounds of Tom Lehrer‘s tongue-in-cheek “Masochism Tango.”

Tonight’s Guests
Tuesday on the Late Late Show, the schedule calls for the April 18th show, featuring actor Michael Sheen and author Michael Ian Black.   Since the April 13th show with Sean Hayes and Lena Dunham which was originally scheduled for Wednesday was used on Monday, perhaps Wednesday will be the April 30th show with comedian Jim Gaffigan and chef Cat Cora.  We’ll have to wait and see.

Craig in Vegas
As we reported last month when it was first announced, Craig Ferguson will be returning to Las Vegas in September to perform his live stand up comedy show.  He’ll be at the Venetian for three shows, September 13th-15th.  Craig’s most recent Las Vegas appearances were also at the Venetian in May and June of 2010 but he has appeared on several Vegas stages over the years, including seven shows at the MGM Grand in 2008, three shows at the Orleans in 2007 and three shows at the Tropicana in 2006.

On our Live Comedy Tour page, we’re trying to compile a complete list of Craig’s live appearances since he took over as host of the Late Late Show in 2005.  He had not been live on stage for ten years prior to that.  But as you’ll notice on our list, there appear to be some gaps, particularly in 2009.  Have you seen Craig live on stage in the past seven years but don’t see the date and venue on our list?  Please let us know!  Just drop us a line on our Contact Us page, and provide some way to verify the information… a photo of a poster or ticket stub, or a link to an online ad.  We’ll add it to the list and give you our thanks!

TV Listings
The RSA’s @Stanley_Styles noticed that the on-screen programming guide on his television clearly hasn’t been updated since 2005.  He captured the screen to show the evidence.

Brave Tourism
While never missing an opportunity to be snarky about Scotland, the UK’s Guardian newspaper still reports on the country’s hopes for a boost in tourism with the release of the Disney/Pixar film Brave.  Meanwhile, Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond tells the Daily Record that despite Scotland’s efforts toward independence, the country still holds an affection for the Queen as the UK celebrates her Diamond Jubilee.

Inside Brave
Here is an inside look at the making of Brave, which will be in U.S. and Canadian theaters June 22nd.
