Craig is Back!
After a two-week mid-summer break, Craig Ferguson and the Late Late Show are back for two weeks, before going on an extended break in August to complete the move from Studio 58 to Studio 56 at CBS Television City. For those who live in or will be visiting the Los Angeles area, there are only two more weeks of episodes being taped in Studio 58 from now until July 25th, so be sure to get your tickets now.

We’re waiting to see the latest official schedules from CBS but during the extended break, we’re anticipating a mixture of “new” episodes and encore presentations.  Craig & Company have been quietly stockpiling guest segments, musical guests, tweetmails and monologues over the past several weeks to get ready for the big move.  Based on our records, they have enough material to provide up to two weeks of never before seen episodes to help cover the break.

An official start date for the new studio has not yet been announced but we’ll be posting details, including ticket information, here on the website as soon as they become available.

Hershey, PA Now On Sale
Tickets for Craig’s live stand up comedy performance at the Hershey Theatre in Hershey, Pennsylvania are now on sale. Harrisburg’s PennLive.com is talking about the show and we’ve posted a link for tickets on our Live Comedy Tour page. Tickets for all of Craig’s live shows this fall are now on sale with the exception of his three-day run in Las Vegas in September. We’ll keep an eye open for when those go on sale and post details here soon.

Tweeting Machine
After taking a Twitter break for a month, Craig Ferguson is back to his old tweeting self, sending out multiple tweets this week. First, he inquired about his rights as leader of the Robot Skeleton Army:

I get droit du seigneur over my twitter followers right?

Despite a lack of historical evidence, the right to which he refers has been mentioned frequently in literature and satire, including in Braveheart.  Following up the first tweet, Craig offered a bit more Latin, spinning him from one theme into another:

Tried writing “primae noctis” but spellcheck kept changing it to “primate nocturnal” which made me think of vampire monkeys #notabadidea

Once on the vampire monkey theme, lots of robot skeletons joined in with suggestions and Craig approved:

[stextbox id=”custom”]Now as I think about it. Vampire Monkeys is an awesome idea. Like Twilight but with a tire swing and bananas. #countchimpula

“@KdGodbomber: @CraigyFerg Orangutangula and VanHelchimp.” Winner of best Vampire Monkey names. #teamorangutangula

also very good vampire monkey moniker “@peterdebay: @CraigyFerg Nosferat-ooo-ooo-ooo #teamorangutangula”

Many great Vampire Monkey names pouring in. People clearly want this to happen. You listening Hollywood? #teamorangutangula #Nosferat-ooh

THE @WilliamShatner & THE @brekinmeyer make for quite the chortlefest tonight . #monkeyvampires #teamorangutangula #Nosferat-ooh![/stextbox]

Along the way, a creative use of photoshop caught Craig’s attention:

http://twitpic.com/a188mh Ach. Mein. Gott. They’re here. #vampiremonkeys #orangutangula #nosferat-ooh-ooh.

And the RSA’s @HoboRobot joined in with an idea:

@craigyferg @RSA_news What do you get when you cross a Vampire Bat with a Spider Monkey? No, NOT a flying monkey! pic.twitter.com/oLlTMzD9

We can only imagine that the vampire monkey theme will continue on the show and on the tweety box.

Power Problems
Bringing back memories of a similar problem a few years ago, the lights went out in the studio during the taping of Wednesday night’s show, prompting Craig to tweet:

Massive electrical failure at the studio. Did the show with almost no lighting at all. Kind of an improvement. #arty #atleasttherobotworked // I was told the electrical failure at the show was the result of a blown transformer. Do your own Optimus Prime joke.

Among the media covering the power outage were the New York Times, the Washington Post and TheInsider.com. Thanks to the RSA’s @alliemjonze and many more for links!

Gearing Up to Switch Studios
Ever since getting a green light in the spring under Craig Ferguson‘s new two-year contract, work has been under way at CBS Television City to move the Late Late Show across the hall from the friendly confines of Studio 58, to Studio 56 with a larger stage, more room for musical guests to perform and a bigger audience. Both studios had originally been designed as rehearsal halls for the larger studios on the main level of the building. Studio 58 in particular was the smaller of the two rooms, a permanent home for the first iteration of the Late Late Show. There, host Tom Snyder interviewed guests one-on-one with no audience. Shoe-horning in an audience of about 100 people started when Craig Kilborn began hosting the show in 1999.

Crews will be installing new lighting and building a new set, which will some of the most visible changes the audience will notice. However, much of the work being done is the behind-the-scenes engineering most people never see. Some of the wiring and infrastructure work is being done now. The rest will happen when the show takes its usual late-summer break in August, when crews will be able to move things like the cameras, microphones, audio and video controls and more from the old studio to the new. The new studio is set to debut in September, although no precise date has been announced. It may be as early as late August, depending on when everything is ready. We’ll keep you posted.
