Craig Digs Bond
Craig had a chance to see the new James Bond film and he approves:

Saw Skyfall. I never thought I’d say this but the new Bond movie might be the best yet. It’s fantastic! #notbeingpaidtoplugit #itsgreat

Yahoo News compiled a list of the best- and worst-performing Bond films, adjusted for inflation.

Craig is Brave
Craig reads his Twitter feed and responds from time to time, even to the inexplicable ones:

“@RadhikaRaniB: How did they make Brave without @CraigyFerg ?? ” They didn’t. #thehell?

Craig is indeed in the film as the voice of Lord MacIntosh. DVD and Blu-Ray versions of the Disney/Pixar movie go on sale November 13th.

Mindy’s Projects

One of Tuesday’s guests, Mindy Kaling, recently talked to Rolling Stone magazine about her new show The Mindy Project and her work as the show’s writer and star.

Carrot Top Goes Pink
The website Monsters & Critics snapped a photo of Tuesday’s other guest, Carrot Top, at the Hard Rock Cafe’s “Pinktober” fundraising event for breast cancer awareness.

Tonight’s Guests
Monday on the Late Late Show, Craig chats with the leaders of Tenacious D and the band will perform, plus he’ll interview actress Sarah Shahi. On Tuesday, it’s a re-broadcast of the October 2nd show with actress Mindy Kaling and comedian Carrot Top. Because Tuesday is Election Day, the repeat show may appear very late or not at all “in your region.”

Studio 58 Story
Before moving to the newly-remodeled and spacious Studio 56 at CBS Television city back in August, the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson was taped across the hall in the smaller Studio 58.  The RSA’s @tbc0 attended a taping in the old studio and recently wrote about his experience. We welcome stories from our readers who have seen the show in person, either in the old studio or the new, and we’re delighted to share them with the rest of the robot skeleton army.

Cleveland Rocks
The band Tenacious D, schedule to appear on Monday’s Late Late Show, rocked the House of Blues in Cleveland last Thursday night, and were reviewed in the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Out of the Frying Pan

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that Monday’s other guest, actress Sarah Shahi has signed on to appear on NBC’s Chicago Fire, after her USA series Fairly Legal was canceled.

Sock It To Me
The RSA’s @lockofire spotted a fun pair of Gryffindor socks and said she immediately thought of Craig. They do look like the sort of socks he might wear.

Craig Takes His Time
Even though he was being told to wrap it up, Craig decided to take his time at the end of a show one night:

This Week’s Guests

Emily VanCamp

It’s another week of mostly new episodes of the Late Late Show, beginning Monday when we’ll see an interview with and a performance by Tenacious D, plus Craig chats with actress Sarah Shahi. On Tuesday, because of election coverage by CBS and your local news, the show may be broadcast very late or even pre-empted. If it does appear “in your region,” it will be an encore presentation of the October 2nd show with actress Mindy Kaling and comedian Carrot Top, rather than a new show. On Wednesday, Craig spends some with with the always entertaining actress Carrie Fisher and actor RZA. Actor LL Cool J is the lone guest listed for Thursday, although another may be added soon. And on Friday, Craig welcomes actor Eric Idle and actress Emily VanCamp.

British Comic Books

On Friday’s Late Late Show, Craig Ferguson mentioned Billy Whizz, the “world’s fastest boy,” who appeared in a British comic book called The Beano beginning in 1964. He also mentioned a character called Invisible Dick who appeared in another comic book called Sparky in the 1970s and had a magic flashlight that made things invisible.

Wright Improvs
Deadpan comedian Steven Wright is appearing on stage in Florida, and talks briefly about doing improv with Craig on the show, in an interview for SouthFlorida.com. Thanks to the RSA’s @bgrhubarb for the link!

Josh Warms Up
Also from the always-vigilant @bgrhubarb, we see that Josh Robert Thompson will again be opening for Craig’s Live Comedy Tour appearances in Chicago and Washington, DC, November 15 and 16. Josh replied to her tweet:

Yes indeed! RT @bgrhubarb Have you been tapped to open for Craig’s Chicago & DC gigs this month? *wings crossed*

Guest Switch
Instead of the scheduled visit from comedienne Ophira Eisenberg on Friday’s show, the previously “bumped” comedian Thomas Dale performed. Eisenberg will be rescheduled on a future date.

Daylight Saving Time
Craig reminds everyone to turn their… um… CLOCKS back an hour as Daylight Saving Time ends in the US on Saturday night.

November Birthdays

Kathy Kinney

Saturday, November 3rd is the birthday of poet William Cullen Bryant, baseball pitcher Bob Feller, actor Charles Bronson and actress Kathy Kinney. Sunday, November 4th is the birthday of humorist Will Rogers, journalist Walter Cronkite, comedienne Kathy Griffin and actor Matthew McConaughey.

William Cullen Bryant’s most famous work is Thanatopsis, a meditation on death. After writing the poem at age 17, he returned to it more than 20 years later and added some final lines:

[stextbox id=”custom”]So live, that when thy summons comes to join
The innumerable caravan, which moves
To that mysterious realm, where each shall take
His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave
Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch
About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.[/stextbox]

Brown Makes a Mess

When chef Alton Brown appeared on the show for his wild cooking segment with Craig, it caught the attention of the Huffington Post and Eater.com. Craig tweeted after the show:

Hey @altonbrown. My suit is ruined and my mouth tastes like gasoline. Best. 1st. Date. Ever. #comebacksoon #cooking+science=awesome.

McHale’s ‘Community’ Service
As the Huffington Post spotted, when Joel McHale appeared Thursday on the Late Late Show, he poked some fun at NBC’s handing of his sitcom Community, which is scheduled to return to the network’s prime time lineup in February.

Sheen Sheepskin

As the New York Times reported, Friday’s Late Late Show guest Michael Sheen was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Swansea University in Wales for his contributions to the arts.

Ask Me Another
Also on Friday’s show is comedienne Ophira Eisenberg, who hosts the National Public Radio program Ask Me Another, a fun-filled hour of trivia and comedy available on public radio stations around the country. Check local listings for the time “in your region.”

Sexy Dance
Before the days of the “late night joke dance,” in the early days of Craig’s time on Twitter, the RSA’s @urockstar asked if Craig would do a sexy dance once he reached 100,000 Twitter followers. After saying no at first, Craig gave in and did a dance as he invited more people to join his robot skeleton army.

Berenice Marlohe

Guest Update

Added to the future guest list are the newest “Bond girl,” actress Berenice Marlohe, Doris Kearns Goodwin and journalist Cynthia Littleton.

Craig on Katie
Craig Ferguson appeared on Katie Couric’s daytime talk show on Thursday to clear up the fabricated story in Star Magazine about an alleged feud between the two. Here are the highlights:

Video courtesy: Katie

Before the show, Katie tweeted:

My arch nemesis @craigyferg on today’s #Katie – we have to clear the air about our feud/dating history…

Afterward, Craig tweeted about his appearance on Katie’s show:

My ex gf @katiecouric had me on her show today. Afterwards I felt dirty but elated. #shesofine.

He then added:

FYI literalists! @katiecouric & I never dated (sadly) but happily never had a feud either. It’s just pretend. Like married sex #alsoajoke

And Katie replied:

Hey @CraigyFerg happy we kissed (via satellite) & made up-hope u were wearing knickers under ur kilt! What a scoop Star mag #mysecretcrush!!

So with that, the alleged feud must surely be over and Star Magazine got what it wanted: A ton of free publicity on two network television shows. It must be getting difficult to sell trashy tabloids when the internet has taken over the unsubstantiated rumor business.

Craig and Shakespeare
Also on Thursday, Craig tweeted a reaction to an article in the Huffington Post about his autobiography:

I think I just got insulted and complimented at the same time. What’s that? An insulment? A compult? #spellcheckhatesme

McHale’s Past

TV host, stand up comedian, actor and all around funny guy Joel McHale is on Thursday’s Late Late Show. Long before Community (which will return to NBC in February) and The Soup, he guested on Bill Nye the Science Guy, and as the Huffington Post explains, he looked a bit like Thursday’s other guest, Alton Brown.

Brown Backstage
Chef Alton Brown is on Thursday night’s show. He tweeted a photo from backstage where he started to prepare the meal:

Craig on the Tweety
From time to time, Craig will comment on a fan’s tweet, including this one on Tuesday:

“@ErinKGross: I saw @CraigyFerg in a drug store in Vancouver. He was mulling over band aids. I wonder what they were for?” Making meth.

On Wednesday, actress Maggie Grace tweeted to Craig:

@CraigyFerg Gee, thanks for the set visit! Big morale booster for the cast #definitelynotporn #howdoyouknowitssoftcore?

And Craig replied:

@MaggieGrace it was great to see you & your talented porn colleagues porning away at your porn. Well done! #notreally #porningisaverb?

And she added:

@CraigyFerg thanks 4 having me on YOUR show. which is sort of LIKE porn- cheesy dialogue:check, on late @night: check #notreallyporn #urock

We’re not sure what “super secret project” they’re talking about.  It may be related to the Showtime series Californication, but we’ve heard they’re already done shooting for the season. If we hear more, we’ll pass it along. Stay tuned!

Selling Those Hot Dogs
A columnist with the Cincinnati Enquirer saw Tuesday’s show with Jay Leno, who recounted an appearance on a local show where the host slipped live commercials into his interviews.

Josh as Himself
The voice of Geoff Peterson, Josh Robert Thompson, has decided on his Halloween costume:

I’m not going as Geoff for Halloween, I’m going as myself. Then everyone will ask, “Who are you supposed to be?” Happy Halloween!

Halloween Greetings
The RSA’s @hoborobot put together a Geoff-style spider to celebrate Halloween. We wonder if his thorax is stuck in customs.

Phone Vibrations
Craig feels his phone vibrating and then realizes, he doesn’t have his phone:

Late Shows and Nights in New York
As the northeast copes with the effects of the huge storm sprawling across a dozen states, New York’s late night television shows are finding ways for the show to go on.  The Daily Show and The Colbert Report canceled their shows Monday and Tuesday night.  Jimmy Kimmel Live, which usually tapes in Los Angeles and had been planning for months to broadcast from Brooklyn this week, canceled Monday’s show but returned to the air Tuesday.  The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon went ahead with shows on Monday, but did so without studio audiences. Both planned to have audiences on Tuesday. New York Magazine’s Vulture column talks about Letterman’s show on Monday night and the New York Times recaps the efforts of Letterman and Fallon. The rest of the late night shows tape in California and continued without interruption.

Lovato on Celebrity
Demi Lovato, who will be on Wednesday’s show, tells People Magazine that she cringes at the word “celebrity.”

As the third season of The Walking Dead gets under way, AMC interviewed David Morrissey about his role as the governor.

Disturbance in the Force
Star Wars fans are still absorbing the news that George Lucas has sold his company and the Star Wars franchise to Disney. Disney has already announced it will be releasing a 7th Star Wars film in 2015, covering book 7 of the 9-book original stories, as reported by eonline.com. Josh Robert Thompson, a Star Wars über-fan, tweeted:

George Lucas, the Force is strong with you. This will be a day long remembered! #DisneyLucasfilm #EpisodeVII

A-List Guests
Craig laments some things the Late Late Show doesn’t have, although now that Tom Hanks has been on the show, the A-list guest part seems to have changed.
