A Thing for Brimley
The RSA’s @HoboRobot remembers that Wilford Brimley was in the 1982 remake of The Thing and even found a (NOT for the squeamish… trust us on this) picture. He perhaps best known for his role in Cocoon but among his many other credits are The Firm, The China Syndrome, The Natural, a cameo appearance on Seinfeld and a recurring role on the TV series The Waltons. Apart from a brief role in the forgettable Hugh Grant/Sarah Jessica Parker romantic comedy Did You Hear About the Morgans?, the farmer/rodeo rider -turned actor hasn’t appeared in films or television in nearly a decade, so it will be a treat to see him on November 23rd on the Late Late Show!  Update:  Roboskelly Leah reminds us that Brimley starred in the television show Our House (1986-1988) with Deidre Hall and Shannen Doherty.  Now there’s some television trivia!

Fall Tour
Craig Ferguson‘s fall 2011 tour tickets are now available for five of his six planned shows.  The Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena north of Miami is the lone holdout not yet selling tickets but we check periodically and we’ll update you when it happens.  Seats are still available for all shows, particularly in New Jersey… what’s up with that?  Book early to avoid disappointment!  We have updated all of the links on our Live Comedy Tour page to get you to the tickets quickly and easily.  In the past, Craig has not often scheduled live performances in December so these shows may be it for 2011.

River Song Talks Who
In an interview containing SPOILERS if you are not completely up to date on the current season of Doctor Who, the Chicago Tribune interviews Alex Kingston about her role as River Song, her favorite Doctor and much more.  She even has a funny thing to say about Craig at the very end of the story.  Thanks to the RSA’s @jfer21 for finding the link.

Still Hot
After the tear-inducing video from our most recent post, we thought we’d lighten things back up with a tune featuring the one and only Betty White, performing with with British electro/house singer Luciana.

Sweet Tweetup Three Weeks Away
Meanwhile, Craig is gearing up for three east coast shows later in October, in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  The RSA’s General @Malinky2Stoatir is getting primed for the tour stops:

VERY excited over the mini-RSA reunion forming…1 year later, to the day! #RubsNipples

It’s Not Easy Being Cheesy
Craig retweeted singer Elizabeth Cook who will be performing on the show Wednesday and added his comment at the end:

“@Elizabeth_Cook LLS on Wed/ @craigyferg THEN I’m playing a grill cheese truck! http://cheekwood.org/Public_Programs/Cheekwood_Nights.aspx”   //  They’re both cheese trucks in a way.

Oh, That Guy!
The RSA’s @Colleen_Byrne retweeted film critic Roger Ebert’s picture of the day:

@CraigyFerg Surely you know the backstory on this. RT @ebertchicago: I know I’ve seen this face before somewhere: bit.ly/oMgNxG

Double Rainbow
In case you missed the flood of photos on Twitter Friday night from thousands of Angelinos, check out Carson Kressley‘s picture of a double rainbow in LA.

Early October Holidays
Saturday, October 1st is Fall Astronomy Day, the 40th anniversary of Disney World in Florida and of the Model T Ford. It is also the birthday of pianist Vladimir Horowitz.  If you need a moment of sheer beauty in your life today, listen to this true master as he plays the first encore of his historic 1986 concert in Moscow:

Sunday, October 2nd is Phileas Fogg’s Wager Day, the UN International Day of Non-Violence (marking the birthday of Mohandas Gandhi), and the anniversary of the debut of the Peanuts comic strip.

Craig’s Avatar
Craig decided to update his avatar from his Paris photo near the Eiffel Tower to a drawing of him done by the late Al Hirschfeld, who for decades was the most noted caricaturist of the stars, from Broadway to Hollywood and beyond.  If you had your portrait done by Hirschfeld, you knew that you had “made it”.   The image of Craig is actually a detail from a larger drawing of the cast of The Drew Carey Show.  If you look very closely at Craig’s hair on the right side, you’ll see the word “Nina” embedded in it.  That was a whimsical touch Hirschfeld added to nearly all of his drawings, as a tribute to his daughter.

Craig Caricatures and Drawings
Craig’s avatar got us wondering about how many different drawings of Craig there are out there.  We found several and have linked directly to each artist’s page to give them proper credit:

Have you done a Craig drawing, sketch, painting or computer-aided illustration you’re proud of? Send us a link and we’d be happy to post it.

Creative Spelling
Late on Thursday evening, Craig tweeted:

Nighttime dogfood run. Gelson’s parking lot in Hollywood is as sleazy as a Bangcock strip joint. I gotta come here more often. #thanksdogs

Within moments, the Twitter spelling police were all over him, so he tweeted:

Hey good spellers! I wanted to spell Bangcock the way I did but thanks for letting me know how awesome you are. #Bangkok. #Iknow

We liked the first spelling better. He later responded to a viewer with a double joke:

“You left Kierkegaard out of starbucks mono. What would he have said if he worked there?” Either(cream)/Or(sugar)? #wouldyoulikeadanish?

Meanwhile, LLS Producer Michael Naidus enjoys his workplace:

Why I love my job, Part 25: Just walked by a big box at CBS labeled: “Cagney + Lacey – Season 2.”

On Friday, Craig retweeted a photo:

“@NeliasBitch: @CraigyFerg Wilford Brimley spotted in SF? http://pic.twitter.com/XRDHUc3X” What the hell? #brimleynation

He also added some new terminology for the bedroom:

Alarmed to learn that an”Eiffel Tower” is a real sexual position. I’m more”Leaning Tower of Pisa”. #itsquitenormallotsofmenarelikethat.

To which Canadian comedian Colin Mochrie responded:

@CraigyFerg I’m more Old Faithful.
